I'm installing one in my daughter's Scout and I'll be damned if I can't get the drums off the spindle:mad: Yes, I removed the axles, nuts and washers and it won't budge. I adjusted the brake shoes (loosened) but still nothing. What am I doing wrong? I know this is a stupid question, but I'm running outa ideas.

TIA!

a big fawking hammer will help the cause. make sure the brake sure is ultra loose, and it takes a bit of working...

I assume it will spin freely and you took both spindle nuts off, or on the newer ones the key and single nut off. If so then spin it slowly while encouraging it with a rubber mallet or brass hammer. Sometimes the outer bearing will hang just enough to not allow it to come off.

If you are doing a disk brake setup or just plan on getting new drums, just beat the shit out of them until they come off. I ran into the same problem you did, and that was the only way I was able to get them off.

Big hammer!!!! that's what I like to hear:flipoff2:. I use my big hammer for lots of stuff, but I finally decided to by a press so I can hopefully keep from messing up bearing and balljoints and shit
