those gears should work fine for offroad. toy guys run 5.38's in the front and 5.29's in the rear when they have a dana 44 and toy rear ;)

The difference between 4.375 and 4.27 is about 2.4%, 5.38 and 5.29 is about 1.7%.

I run 5.29/5.38 and its not really noticable. With lockers and 4wd, you have bind no matter what.

I thought I had read that you were "supposed to" keep the difference less than 2%, but I'd think youd still be OK...

On Randy's ring and pinion, he says on road it can be a 1% difference and off road up to 2% difference without problems.
