im in the middle of streching the rear of my yj with xj leafs, im going to be loosing about 3 inches of lift do to shackle placement. i was wondering if anyone has ran xj springs in the front of there jeep to also reduce lift. i would just be moving the shackels to the end of the frame like i did in the rear.

i can honestly say that i doubt there are a whole lot of cases of people going thru all the trouble of putting xjs in front just to loose some lift... but there are pleanty of guys running xjs in front, youll have to do something about moving the steering box forward or an astro box...

Or maybe you could move the spring hangers aft so you wouldn't get a front stretch or very little...?

ok xj springs have an offset center pin, for instance when streching the rear the center pin is 7 inches further back then the stock location moving the wheel base out, but if you were to flip the spring around there would be no strech and the shackel would still be in the same place as like a jeep cherokee. in the front the the pin would still be in the stock location the the shackle would have to be moved to the end of the frame with the way back shackel hanger like a rear strech would, without accual streching any wheel base and lowering the jeep a few inches to match the rear! and in time if i did ever want more wheel base i could just flip the spring around and get a new steering box

The only problem I can think of is that those spring will be really really soft and if you don't run them the right way they might wrap pretty bad.

I run XJ's in the front. I added a cut wagoneer rear main leaf to stiffen them up and reduce axle wrap. I'm running them with the short side of the spring (rear) toward the front, and moved the shackle back. It pushed the axle forward about 4". Using a hi-steer arm for the drag link works out without moving the steering box.

This is about the best I have. I'm running all 1-ton chevy rod ends, and a wagoneer pitman arm.
