Thinking about choppin off the rear of my truck and tubeing it. in the process id like to get rid of the leaf spring setup and get some cheapie coils. but eventually go coil overs just not right now (see $$) is there a good coil to look for---

FYI its goin on a fullsize chevy (i know but i dont want to hear it) fabbing up stuff isn't a problem..so throw me a bone.

junkyard would be preferrable, but if it comes down to getting the best for the $$ i could order off the shelf stuff.

I think you'll ahve a hard time finding junkyard coils that will suit you. Toy guys are able to use aerostar coils, and jeep XJ/ZJ coil pretty easily, but I think they may be too soft for your setup, depending on what you do with it. I would recommend some sort of lifted bronco coil, the wild horse coils seem to be nice and are not very $$. You can find bolt on buckets for these coils on F100's, I have a set sitting on a shelf in my garage right now. There is a shorter bolt on bucket as well, which will yield more lift with less "lift coil" but I am unsure what they came on.

yup
hard to beat the ford setup,
I have seen it on a 4 linked shortbox ford
vehicle weight is in the ball park and off the shelf looong springs are a nice feature

I know some 'zuk guys are using drag coils from summit. They are cheap, and you can get the spring rate you want. don't know if the length would work on a fullsize or not, but since you're going custom shouldn't be too hard to make work.

Well--to be completly honest i have no idea---how can i figure out what I need. obvoiusly its for crawlin, so i want it soft---probably do a 4 link setup, and eventually do coilovers but not till $$ permits.

i've got a set of 5" lift coils for a bronco they would have plenty of spring rate for your truck (something around 360 Lb I think) they are superlift springs that were never installed. Drop me a pm if interrested.
