Anyone have any specs on the spring rate of Skyjacker 6" TJ coils? Found rates for a bunch of others, but not these ones...

Or just any feedback from anyone running them.

No going to buy a Bumjacker kit, just thinking of using them in my TJ with my front/rear triangulated 4-link setup.

I just called skyjacker for ya to get the spring rates, they said, "ah, we don't have that information".

If I were to take a guess, I would say they are around 150 #/in front and 200 #/in rear...Just a guess though.

your a little low, and the rates are usually higher in the front due to the fact you have an engine up there........ spring rate on sj are around 180

You sure about that, most companies have a stiffer rate in the rear for TJs, the difference is the front gets a greater number of tigher wraps.

1. Who cares
2. all you need is anything softer than RE if you care about how it rides:flipoff2:

I don't really care how it rides on the street... my main concern is stability on the trail. Of the coils I have run in the past, I prefer the stiffer ones - feel better to me, more stability.

To me, the right spring rating is one that JUST allows you to fully stuff, and that doesn't drop out when at full droop. A nice cushy ride on the street is not a concern.

180 seems soft - anyone else have any solid #'s or feedback on these springs?

From what I've heard the Skyjacker coils are a "soft" spring.

Doesn't sound like its a coil problem, if you want those qualities get the right length shock, with correct length bumpstop and right size limiting strap. (or Rope...LOL)

Sorry - I think I'm confusing things here...

what I mean is if the spring is too stiff it won't allow you to stuff all the way to the bumpstops, not that I want to use the spring to limit the stuff.

And, for a given amount of lift, the softer the spring the longer it is when unloaded... so it is less likely to fall out.

So compromise, once again, is the key IMHO.

I am running Rancho RS9012's.
