I got a wild boar hunt scheduled for next week.... speaking with the guide, shots will be inside of 150 yds typically <100yds

Im planning on bringing a savage 7mm rem mag... I have 140gr winchester ballistic silvertips that work great in my gun...(the one with the deer pictured on it (meaning medium game) hearing so much about the shielding of a wild boar, do I need to step up in size for the 7mm... meat pigs I might take head shots, trophy pigs (large large bastids) I will try for heart lungs to preserve skull

You will be fine. Just know where the vitals are.

7mm Is a big gun!

That'll kill the shit outa a Pig.

Just like any other animal, it's all about shot placement.

I've shot lots of HUGE boars, with fukn narly thick armor plate and a 7mm will punch right through it!

I mostly hunt with a 300 Win Mag now, but not because the 7mm was too small.

i knew a few guys who used 7mm to take down moose up in the AK. I think you'll be fine. like the others said hit the vitals.

I take pigs down with 5.56, 7mm is plenty enough.

if he is feeding, try a about an inch behind the ear.

if he is standing (or available shot) i shoot right at his elbow in the front. his heart is right behind that.

you guys and your fancy shmancy shooting in the daylight pig hunting

night time?

shoot as fast as possible (no bolts allowed :flipoff2:) in the group of pigs and hope you wing em enough to dispatch

you can kill them with a .17hmr if you shoot them in the ear. i have killed 3 pigs with 1 shot out of my 7mag. take a lot of bullets and kill them all.

inside 100 yds go for a head shot. That will frop them for sure. I killed 2 hogs last year wit a .270 with no problems.
