: Where do you guys find these?
ouibus 09-25-2002, 12:17 AM I am just looking for some stock rubber spring eye bushings. There is a place in town that has some that might work, but they want $5 a piece for them. Then I look in Specter and they want $2 a piece for them. Someone told me at some point that these same bushing were used on '58 Chevy pickup or something like that. I can't remember exactly what he said, but I remember he gave me a couple and they work perfectly. So, where do you guys get these things. I need twelve of them to get my rear end resprung.
I don't want to spend a forutne on them either. Any help would be appreciated.;)
rabid 09-25-2002, 08:01 AM For $2 a piece, I say get the specter ones, you know they will be right.
Not really answering your questions....
dieselcruiserhead 09-25-2002, 10:38 AM You pretty much want polyurethane and you're probably not going to find them too cheap. MAF I think is somewhere near $1.50 each, a whole bunch of aftermarket companies make them for cruisers so I'm sure you can have luck somewhere perhaps even locally. Try the big three I'd say, JT outfitters, MAF, Specter, as your most likely sources. Or dive into the less known ones, Cruiserparts.net (not sure if he'll have new ones but he has been building his new parts inventory lately), 4x4conntection, etc etc.
Good luck,
GloNDark 09-25-2002, 11:02 AM I got mine from the local napa for $12 for a set (does two springs) after my discount. :D
ouibus 09-25-2002, 12:47 PM I was trying to stay away from using Poly ones. I have heard that they work great, but they are stiffer than all get out. I just need some good old rubber ones to get my rig back on the road.
GloNDark,
Are the ones that you picked up at NAPA rubber or poly? Also, how do you get a discount there? Kind of curious about that one.
Any more ideas people?

I had the choice between rub and poly. I went with the poly and they work really good actually. Not to stiff but stiffer than the rubber ones thats for sure.
Discount at napa comes from having an open account there and buying parts there regligously for 9 years now. :D
FeCamel 09-25-2002, 01:48 PM How many do you need? I think I have some extra poly and rubber ones lying around, but probably not enough to do all 4 springs. I'll check when I get home.
ouibus 09-25-2002, 02:12 PM FeCamel,
All I need is enough to do the rear end of my cruiser. So twelve should cover it.
Glo,
That is cool that you can get the discount through them. So you are running the poly ones and they are not that bad. Hmmm, maybe I should use poly then.
dieselcruiserhead 09-25-2002, 02:41 PM I'd never go back to rubber after seeing how it breaks down. Unless you have the stiffest of springs, I don't think you'll notice a difference, plus the urethane is much more durable and generally lasts a lot longer. Easier to deal with too, in an out, they don't tear apart completely like broken in rubber ones do.
ouibus 09-25-2002, 03:16 PM Thanks Andre, I guess I am sold on poly now. Well, I guess I should go to my local 4WD shop and see what I come up with. Unless you still might have some laying around FeCamel. Thanks for the advice guys.
VA.CRUISER 09-27-2002, 04:39 AM Check JC WHITNEY seems to me I saw them in there catalog for cheap can't remember how much
I got the rubber ones from NAPA too. They were part #274-6586. I don't remember how much they were, but they were cheap. I have them to put in the front springs when I swap in the disk brake front.
ouibus 09-28-2002, 05:28 PM Thanks Yoda. I called Napa up and they said they had absolutely nothing like that for a Toyota Landcruiser. Maybe the part number will work.
Yeah, the parts guys couldn't find them on the computer. I went to their hard catalog and found it myself. I have used poly bushings before too, and they wore out/cut through. I use silicone grease on the rubber bushings.
