Set-up:
84 CJ-7 w/D-60 front axle
39.5 Boggers
2"x8" Tractor Supply ram, external stops.
Stock Chevy pump modified for both increased pressure and volume.
Drill/tapped top cap, EMS end cap on the steering box.
In-line cooler with extra P/S fluid via 6" rad. hose on resevoir cap.

I recently had a chance to wheel my rig on a rock bed. After getting down in the rocks, I noticed I couldn't turn any better than before the ram. When I first hooked it all up, I had the hoses reversed. I F-ed up the steering box, which I replaced. Could I have F-ed up any seals, etc. inside the ram?

Seals are unlikely in my mind. Stupid question but have you bled the system at it highest point? Also...make sure that the TSC ram was good. I have had a few friends get bad rams from the get go.

Yep. The resevoir is the highest point. How can you tell if the ram is bad or not? I've disconnected the rod side and it extends/retracts fine, but there is no resistance to it either.

you should not be able to move the ram by hand sounds like the rings are bad on the piston!

Can't move it by hand. It moves when steering.

Easiest way to check the ram is to stroke it out one side all the way out, then disconnect the hose closest to the stroked out side, Then attampt to turn it in the same direction, further attempting to stroke out the ram, it fluid is pissing out the hole on the ramat the port from the hose you removed, the inner seals are probibly gone.

OK. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that this weekend.
