: Waggy Spring Summary

Hi I'm new to the board and have some questions on Waggy Springs. I have done a search but still have some questions. I have a 95 yj that likes to eat spring packs. I have two complete sets of Waggy springs from my dana 44 donar rigs. I understand that if I use The front 7? leafs my wheelbase will extend a total of 4 inches. What about the rear waggy springs? Is there a way I can extend my wheelbase two inches and still use the waggy springs I have. Which axle is easiest to move,, front or rear? I already have custom dropped spring hangers so I was thinking I could account for the two inch offset in front by changing the mount. Then I could gain two inches of wheelbase in the back. Anybody know of any good writeups on this subject?? Are there advantages to Waggy springs? Thanks

I believe the rear Waggy springs are gonna be way too long for use in your Jeep - but I may be wrong :)

You searched where??

I suggest you DUCK AND COVER.

The BASIC ADVANTAGE to the waggy spring is the offset spring pin. Mount the long side on the fixed mount on the frame and you push your axle 2". What is so hard to understand?

Try the search button, I did it for you: go here (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=270777&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending)

Waggy springs have been discussed to death around here.

About eating spring packs, if you are SOA, all I can say is ANTI-WRAP BAR (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=270823&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending)

Mount the long side to the fixed mount on the frame to push the axle forward two inches...

No sh*t. Are their advantages to moving the front or rear? Steering, tire clearance under flex etc??

Go away :flipoff2:

If you don't know the advantages of a little longer wheelbase, or don't feel you need it, then why worry about waggy springs. If you knew enough about your rigs performance then you would be able to tell round-about what wheelbase you wanted, make your own decision on tire clearance, and not ask questions that have been covered about 100 times in the past and differ for every rig and driver.

Are you just lazy? All this stuff has been covered in past threads.

Here are two pics, before and after of a set of waggy springs in the rear of my CJ7:

Obviously there needs to be some serious finder triming and the gas tank has to move. On your YJ, I believe you can do the front with out moving the steering box, by using a different pitman arm. Again this has ALL been covered in other WAGGY threads.

Basically I am gearing up for a spring over. Rather than drop the money on new springs I want to use the Waggys I have and use that money for a slip yoke eliminator. I do understand the advantages of a longer wheelbase and a longer spring that is why I am interested in the Waggy springs. I have laser cut spring mounts that have multiple holes so I can adjust wheelbase and height. I think I will use the Waggy springs and adjust the wheelbase to what I find I like. Sorry If my questions sound stupid but I have come across differing points on some of these subjects. If it bothers you so much to answer then don't. Its really that easy.:flipoff2:
