FWIW, I just went through this. I ended up ordering a sightron SIII 6-24x50 with the mil dot reticle.
I will update after I get it.

well this might be a long shot, but i recently picked up a night force NSX 5.5-22X56 for $1420 at a local ware house sports (used to be sportsman ware house). if you have one local go down and see if they have any. since they changed owner ship to a canadian company they have been willing to get rid of old product. i noticed the scope in there case had a factory inspection sticker from 2007. so i asked the manager if they would knock the price down, and they were more than willing. thats about $200 less than most places i found online. it might be worth a look.

I have a 12x42x56 NXS, you will like your new scope once you get it.

mike the owner of cs tactical (former cs gunworks) is good to go. he is a local guy here and shoots with us. i'd recommend giving him a call to see what he can do for you. he is also a us optics and premier reticles dealer. he's who i buy my glass and other tactical goodies from.

edit: mike is a shooter too and he has experience with just about all the scopes. if he sells it, he probably has had first hand experience with it. he isn't just telling you what he read in on the brochure.

excellent choice in my opinion. i think that is by far the best scope for the money. i am trying to figure out how i can come up with the scratch to get another one for my 308.

If you are going to try that with the load you were using, you need something moving faster.

I was wrong, as Pete mentioned. Liberty does not sell Nightforce.

I have always had great luck working with Don over at Long Range Supply. His prices are as good as anyone else and he will throw in some other things for you like rings or base, if he has not changed it recently. He has always been patient and got me exactly what I was looking for.
