My buddy is getting a new welder this week since his lincoln 175 gave up the ghost today.

Who has the best deal on a Miller 252 class machine?

cyberweld has the best online prices I have found, however sometimes the local place can be competetive.

When I got my MM185, I looked up all the welding/gas suppliers within a two hour drive and called and gave the same spill. "I'm calling around within what I'm comfortable driving looking for the best price on a MM185, what's your price?". The price varied by a little over two hundred dollars from cheapest to the highest. Where I got mine was something like $15 or 20 more then the cheapest, but was an hour away , cheapest was hour and a half or a little more. Call around, you may be surprised at what they compare to online, plus you'll have less headache if you have a problem that requires warranty repair. I was pricing a hypertherm plasma cutter last week and called around giving the same spill as I did with the welder, place an hour away was $15 more then cheapest I'd found it online for. Have to pay taxes plus the $15 more, but dont have to pay shipping and there will be less hassle if there is a problem with the unit, so I'll probably get it from them when money is right.

Check for yourself, but Indiana Oxygen has had the best prices and free shipping.

Good to deal with too.

I bought a welder from them as well as a helmet and some consumables.

Like was said. Shop local. I paid more at my local shop for my MM210 but I like dealing face to face. They are also more likely to help you out if you buy from them vs. "yeah I bought this online without seeing what your price was and it doesnt work, will you guys fix it?"

This free shipping is just a hype as Miller pays the shipping.

Buy local get to know these people you have to buy your shielding gas some where.

Granted there are some local places that don`t want to cater to the little person but in these times any business helps .

The dealer I bought my Trail Blazer 302D was able to beat cyberwelds (J.W. Goodlife) price by several hundred Dollars and still get something in his pocket

You really do not want it. It is worn out.

If you DO buy it online, go check out or ask your seller, where the nearest Miller depot is. It turnes out that when I bought my 251 from Cyberweld, the depot was 2 miles from my house. Ordered it with Cyberweld on the phone and picked it up the same day at the local depot. No tax, no shipping, no wait.

What did you give for it?

I bought it through them on ebay, got it for just over $1800 delivered with the use of a 3rd party ebay/paypal promotion. They sell them for $2040 on ebay with free shipping.

$1990 (http://www.weldfabulous.com/Welders/Mig/Miller-Electric/Miller-Millermatic-252-907321-p4543658.html)

Where I got my 251 from a couple years ago, great service.

I buy my gas from one of several LWS stores. They never ask where I got any of my welders, and are happy to have my business.

If I have to have one serviced, they won't ask then, either, I imagine, at least not with an attitude.

I deal with two locally that are good (well, one good and one tolerable), but they can't/won't match online prices on equipment. I've asked. Most cater to the big guys with an outside sales staff.

In general LWS stores have dug their own hole with regard to the smaller customers.

There are two I won't go in again, and the lack of prices on everything in the store (all of them, locally, IIRC) is just stupid.

I guess if I lived in a town with ONE LWS it might be different, but if I'm a hassle when I walk in the door, they can shove that overpriced welder

I am going locally. Airgas in Houston quoted me $1960 without haggling .

Have to pay tax but they support what they sell.

Check your local Airgas. They are on sale for $2003 until the end of the year. I am going to pick one up Friday.

It does not matter where you buy the Miller welder. They have to warranty the welder. My LWS sucks so I won't buy from them anymore. I buy it online or go visit other LWS in Dallas since they have good selection.

This is one thing that annoys me. My LWS is this way. Airgas/praxair have prices on stuff. Closest one to me is too far when I need something, 20 miles or so. LWS is right down the street from work

The thing about prices if you post list price it scares most walk ins away to Habor freight or the like.

welding distributors are just like any other vendor of goods the price you pay is keyed right to your account #. You just get a lot better price if you buy like $25,000 a month compared to $100.00 or less.

It is the Nature of the business me I would much rather support the local merchants..

What ever works for you.:grinpimp:

Funny, my local Praxair doesn't have ANY prices listed on ANYTHING. I have made it a habit to be sure to price half a dozen things every time I'm there exchanging tanks:mad3:
