I found some old school slotted aluminum mags....

How are the built in bead stops on these wheels? As good, better or worse than plain jane steel rockcrawlers/wagon wheels etc....?

How are the they for low psi, big (37" MTR) tire wheelin?

The wheels in Q have a 3" BS, so it isn't the 2" I was hoping for so I may just order some plain steel wagon wgheels w/the center flipped....

TIA

Jim

If they are truly "old school" slotted mags with the kidney bean shaped slots, then they tend to leak through the porus material and corrode like an SOB, they are also prone to cracking, and most require a mag-shank lug nit rather than a regular tapered nut. Many owners don't realise this and run them with tapered nuts and ruin the wheel. The beads also chip off quite easily. If they are old enough they may even be Magneizium, you'd be able to tell, super light, with a kind of green corrosion on them, I tossed an old junker with a tire on it in the bon fire once.....whoo hooo, Hillbilly moment, them things burn like crazy, but don't breathe the fumes!
