If I had carb. converted ls motor and ran a dual fuel set up, how would the alluminum engine fare against the propane?I dont know if anyones done this before or not so any feedback would be great. . .

why would you go propane when you could go injected and have more horses

propane will work with the ls1

Should be fine the propane is clean burning. GM had propane fleet 6.0L for a while. There were iron block but had aluminum heads..

You would need a ignition controller and carb intake that alone will be 600 bucks total plus!

Mostly want to run propane because of how clean it is, its also about $1.50 cheaper than 91 octane and thats in winter when propane prices rise.

I'm building a LQ9 for propane now.... custom cam , other than that it's going to be just like a gasoline engine.

I'm not doing dual fuel ...just LP.

Search Jack & coke...he has a LQ4 on pane and says it kicks ass.

Thanks for the info. Im going dual fuel because its gonna be street legal(kinda) and theres not always a place to fill up like gas or deisel, even though I have a 35.8 gal. tank

I might have the controller that would allow dual fuel. If you can call me tomorrow during business hours, I can check to see what I have.

I'm in the process of having a guy on LS1Tech.com spec. my cam.

I've heard less than great things about dual fuel set-ups in regards to performance..could be wrong

My rig is 99% offroad so I'll have 3-4 tanks with me at all times...two on my rig and two in the truck.

I emailed you guys a couple months back about your 258 kit for my jeep but you said id have to take the setup off for smog check. Not really a big deal but I have to smog her in January so I figured id hold off for a couple months.

Id recommend against dual fuel if you can swing it. I dont know what your putting the motor in but if u can carry a larger tank id do that and opt for just propane. If the motors put together for propane only then your performance on the propane will be much better than in any dual fuel set up.

The motors going in a 1962 GMC stepside truck (shell). I wish I could run propane only but a street driven vehicle needs that insurance of being able to refill at any gas station, eventhough the 42s wont see too much street. Ill be running mostly propane. How much horse power am I really gonna lose by running dual fuel, more 20?

To be honest im not sure but quite possibly. But the whole idea of running only propane is to take advantage of the higher octane of the propane by building higher compression motor.

I dont know off hand why you couldnt find a better medium where you could build a higher compression motor for the propane and dumb it down enough that you could run regular gas with some octane booster in it and have a lesser power loss from the dual fuel set up. . . . thats just my head rambling though.
