Has anyone used the model that bolts to the tranny and looks kind of like a manual shifter? How do they like it? What are the drawbacks and plusses?

I'm pretty sure that Bob Roggy has this shifter..and he had me drive his Jeep before and it was darn near theft proof..he kept yelling, "push the button"..and I couldn't find any button..lol...it is right in the middle of the shifter but sits flush...If I had an auto, I'd go with this shifter.

i run one on my th400. i like it alot. i like the fact that when on a steep hill i can just slap the shifter up all the way to nuetral if things start getting a bit too tippy. i run the 16" version and it seems to be about right.

I was just calling around for prices today... Lookin to put one on my AOD. I don't want to run a cable shifter and the column is too awkard. Plus I end up in PARK when I want reverse or nuetral.

Kinda off subject but I used to work next door to Lokar, and the guy that just moved in next door is the head CNC guy there. Wish I had american vech. I also know 2 guys that weld there but alot of good that does me with a POS yota.

I run one on my Th350 and love it. It was a little trickey to adjust but no biggy.

i also have one, best mod i have ever bought. it is on my turbo 350 in my toyota. i am good friends with Kevin Ford, the owners son at Lokar. He is big into wheeling. he has a 90' K5 with ton stuff and 44" swampers on MRT beadlocks. if you have any technical questions regarding something four wheel drive related ask for him. Also, check out there custom oil and tranny dipsticks, they are great for custom jobs, like my V8 in my yota.

I have a trans mount Lokar shifter in my jeep, the thing works great. It has a safety lockout on it so you can knock it from 1st to neautral with out jamming it into reverse or park. I am friends with Kevin Ford at Lokar, he is the man to speak to. Give him a call at : (865) 966-2269 that is the office number, and tell him what your are wanting to put it in, he will give you the best advice on which shifter you need! Mike

Question: Isn't neutral on a TH350 somewhere in the middle of the shift pattern? If so, how is it possible to throw the shifter all the way up and hit neutral? Enlighten me.

He probably means before the lockout, like a slap shifter...

all the way forward is "P" then "R", "N", "3", "2", "1".

one is pulled all the way back. if you are in any of the drive gears (1-3) all you have to do is slap it forward and it will go into "N" without having to push the button. if you slap it forward until it stops it will be in "N". it will not go into "R" or "P" without pushing the button. anyway it works.

Brian,

I received my shifter today. It is beautiful!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Brian P. really hooked me up as far as price and shipping went on my shifter! I know it has been a long time since I made this post. I try to follow up as often as possible though.

Hey patooyee,
I met you at erroc a couple times ago. I have the hurst shifter on my 4runner. Does the locar have the ability to ratchet shift manually through the gears or do you slip past 2nd and go straight to neutral if you try to run the gears. It looks like a work of art and the wife would be so proud of me if I spent some more money on the truck.

Rick,it slips past the gears and goes into neutral, like just about any floor shifter does. I used a shifter out of a '89 Grand Am (looks just like a Trans Am shifter, but without the leather on the handle) and I shaved the metal where the shifter rides so that if I push it slowly it will only go to neutral, but if I slam it hard (like in a panic situation on a big hill and rolling backwards) it will go into reverse, but not park.

If you want to see one of the Lokar shifters, Mel has one in his Jeep and Jeffs brother has one in his street rod. Also, if you decide to get one, get Jeff to go with you, he is friends with the owners.

I was going to go today, but everyone broke their stuff in Tellico and nobody was going. I saw Hamilton and some others in Tellico and they said they were going to run Rattlerock today, but I got no confirmation, so I didn't go. We are supposed to go next Sat.
