: TJ Delayed Throttle Response??

Ok. I have had probably 8 different TJ's now. All 6 cyl except for one.

I remember once i had a 2004 TJ that had a delayed throttle response once. I scanned the ECM and the TPS sensor was reading only 75% when full-open instead of 100%. However i never got to deal with that since the TJ got sold within 4 days.

Yesterday i picked-up a 2002 TJ i got on auction. 5 speed tranny. It is a Theft recovery. It was missing the wheels/tires, Doors and Top.

Pancake. I put some OEM TJ wheels and tires (30"), some doors and a top.

I drive it 70 miles on the Hwy. and immediately i notice it has a lack of response when i push the throttle pedal. Like if it were the early 2.5L 4 popper. Or like if i where running 35" tires with stock gearing.

BTW. the drivetrain has only 51k miles.

Engine looks/sounds perfect. No check engine light on. Nothing wrong except for the delayed throttle response.

I don't remember to feel this in other TJ's i have driven.

Any clue about this?

Thanks for any info you can share.

Try unplugging the Clock Spring In the Steering Column to see if it gets bettar.

Jeep actually has a TSB out for this, nevar understood why it does it but it does.

Just my 2 cents.

Hum.. actually i forgot to mention the TJ has a damaged ignition switch. It can be open with any kind of key. Would that be the problem?

I wouldn't think so, as long as it runs when turned and start that is pretty much all it does.
