I hate to do it but I am in the position to sell my 82 BJ60.
Has anybody had any success selling vehicles on EBAY ?
Have bought some small stuff there but nothing like a car.
Any other suggestions ?
Also, whats a 1982 BJ worth ? Full legal importation (under the Canadian inheritance clause) 270K KM, perfect drivetrain, rust infested body...
Love the thing, has returned a consistant 26 MPG over the last year of 60 mile/day (60 MPH ) commuting. Buying a new house and need the cash.

how bad is the body and what are you asking for it?

Don't really want this to turn into a for sale post...
I can post some pictures or email them out tonight.
As far as the rust goes, the rear hatch and rear quarters/wheel-arches are gone. A wrap around rear bumper could take care of the quaters, trim the wheel arches and replace the tailgate. The rockers and doors have some surface rust but no perforation.
As far as pricing goes thats what I want you guys to tell me. I need to get as much for this thing as I can. Is EBAY going to do that or is there a better way ??

Post your pics!!! :)
One thing about Land Cruisers, fast sell does not equal top dollar! There was a very rusty BJ70 (3B motor) on Ebay that went for something like $2500 on eBay. I was located back east.
I remember a BJ60 that went for $10K (???) but it looked very clean. Another went higher, but the buyer backed out as the seller was selling for for a friend, wanted cash, and wouldn't provide a title! Ya, I would run from that one... seller was in Southern California.
Sold my clean '84 FJ60 (no rust, few dings) for $4200 earlier in the year. 200,000 miles but was a strong runner. Only item needing work was a leaking rear main seal.
Ebay is good for unusual vehicles, but be honest in the description. Figure about 20% of the top bidders WILL NOT come through. You loose the $50 insert fee, but can relist the vehicle. Impulsive, then realize they don't want it! Ya, I've been burned by non paying bidder (jerk left me my one and only negative feedback, too!).
Sometimes it is easier to "keep it" (what else would get you 26 mpg) and figure other things to sell!
Good luck on the house buying... been there, done that a few too many times (Anyone in Round Rock, TX looking for a nice 2400 sq ft 4 bedroom for $175K? :) )

I bought one sort of like how you describe yours for $2000 US dollars. I did have to get the title on my own though. I ended up parting it out because I felt the rust wasn't worth dealing with. There are too many good 60 bodies around to be concerned with dealing with a rusty one. I did get a pretty good deal. I would say for a stock BJ60 with rust 3-4k with a good US title would be obtainable. Good Luck!

Gosh that looks just like my old one! I think every BJ60 I've ever seen has been brown with rust. Every HJ I've seen has been silver or gray. Granted I've not seen a great many.

Seems brown and rusty was the standard Canadian export model for the BJ.
If this thing is only worth $2-3K I will keep it and drive it. Do body work with a sawzal and call it good. If it would bring $4500 plus it would go. Worth that much to me as a commuter.
The body rust doesn't bother me much but the tailgate stuff does... Anybody have a hatch and tailgate ? I also need the crank extension for the spare tire winch (a non-rusty winch would be good too).

I think you are on the right track. Sometimes things are more valuable to a person than the market value. Unfortunately, I've found this out more than once.
