I am thinking about building some storage cabinets for my garage to store parts and tools. I currenly have some nice shelving but like the idea of something with doors so when I do cutting, grinding or painting I dont get dirt and dust all over everything. I was thinking something 5' x 6' x 3' in size. Made out of ply, and 1 by. Some shelves inside an maybe some slide out bins to store small parts, bolts and such.

So what have you done or seen that may give me some ideas? Pictures...

search cragislist, i was using 4 drawer file cabinets for a while until I found some taller supply type cabinets for cheap.

I really like lateral file cabinets they come in a variety of sizes. Be patient on CL and you will find deals. I put all of mine on wheels.

Yeah really steel cabinets would be best as wood may bend too easy.

wood can be crazy strong.when i used to build drag cars I woulde go on craigslist in the free section and score all the used china cabinets i could get..The tops that show the dishes are great to hold cans and bottles etc..I used to store spare alternators and whatnot in the bottom drawers and cabinets..

metal filing cabinets work great. we have one thats got a drawer FULL of crimp on hydraulic ends. with all that weight it still rolls smooth. i got one under my bench thats so packed full of pipe fittings that i had to use a fork lift to move it.
