Slinky 09-25-2002, 02:38 PM In the rear I'm running rears from a 4Runner. Cost: free. There's a recall due to saggy springs; walked into the local Toy dealer and asked for a set of the recalled springs.
As I recall they're 14" (observed) and somewhere around 200 lb (observed) rate. Pics of the setup begin here:

mudlite 09-25-2002, 03:14 PM Up front: Stock TJ front coils. dime a dozen and 150 lb. Seem to hold the 4.3 up oK. :D
Rudezuk 09-25-2002, 03:48 PM OK........Did you make custom mounts for those springs? If not where did you get them??
sh996 09-25-2002, 03:51 PM I'm also running the summit HAL-14-150 coils on my current zuk and planning on running them on the new project zuk. They are $81.80 a pair to your doorstep. I am really happy with the 150lb rate, gives good flex and still has good handling characteristics.

4x4man 09-25-2002, 04:30 PM i was thinking about using my stock 93 ranger 4x4 springs on the front, and yjs in the rear. by the way,, how are you liking your your new swamper STS? im in the same situation as you were with your dodge. after my boggers wear out i was thinking about giving the new swampers a try. but as you can tell in the pic,,,,15,000 miles and they still look good:eek:

I have the tj springs in the front of my buggy haven't run them yet but they seem really flexy yet not to soft. A lot of my buddies with buggies are running the lift cherokee springs these are a lot stiffer. Good for toyota running gear based buggies or somewhat heavily tube buggies. I think the tj will be good for me.

I used small u-bolts from these guys McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/). you can just about anything fastener-wise here. Here's a pic of my perches (http://community.webshots.com/photo/31469662/40976000fMjNgA) that I fabbed from channel and plate. You can see the hole-pairs for the u-bolts. In this picture (http://community.webshots.com/photo/31469662/40976071ztbDaG) you can see how the perches and u-bolts are working. The upper "cone" is hacked off of the front suspension from a Sidekick. The springs are not attached at top, only the bottom. 4Runner springs. Here's a pic of the top cone (http://community.webshots.com/photo/31469662/38709610mTxhhH).

Someone's jealous... :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
RudeZuk - I tried the 175 front, kept banging the bump stops. However, I've got a 8K winch, 1.6 motor, 2 batteries, and an external cage and 75lb bumper. On a diet 175 might be fine.
I also ran 150 rears, they were fine around town, but once you put in the tool box, winch kit, and cooler they were too soft for the trail and had too much flex. 175 works much better...

The STS's are awesome on road tires!!!! Hardly any noise, and they balance really well!

sh996 09-26-2002, 04:11 PM Rudzuk,
I believe the HAL-150's are 4" OD, but I'd have to actually go home and pull them off the truck to measure them to be sure, and I'm too lazy to do that, so I would ask Bill F. if he can walk out to his garage and measure his because we all know they aren't actually installed on his truck yet :flipoff2:
Sorry Bill, you know I luv ya man ;)

twistedmetal 09-27-2002, 05:15 PM I'm running Xj 6.5 coils. They are rated at around 165lbs, I believe. I was told that may be too light, but I'm pretty sure that a Jeep I-6 outweighs my 4.3 a wee bit!;)
nuttzack 09-27-2002, 08:51 PM :D I weighed 2340# with 150# up front and 130# in the rear and it was awesome. I'll tell ya what makes a huge difference with these coil thingys though, and thats the shocks. I was using 5012's on setting number 2 and it was a little bouncy out of control in some situations, so I turned em up to 4 and 5 and it made a whole world of a difference. I don't think I woulda been happy with the set up if I didn't have stiff enough shocks.

nuttzack 09-30-2002, 11:36 PM what rate did you wind up going with and tell us a little abo0ut what you have planned, please
Rocky Road 09-30-2002, 11:48 PM The 14" springs everyone mentions and the ones we use in our coil kit are great for 33" tires.
If you want to go a bit taller, check out the Old Man Emu light duty springs for ZJ's. I'm doing these on my Sidekick. They're a spring rate of 150 lbs and about 17" tall. Great for fitting 35-36" tires!
