hey guys. I'm wonderin if somebody might have some ideas for me...I drive a 04 F250 6.0 with about 190k Everything was running fine until the other day. I had just got done driving about 25 miles on the interstate, and when I got off on my exit and stopped, my truck started running really rough and smoking a lot. It smokes more when I accelerate, and the smoke is pretty black at the pipe and smells like really strong diesel.
Any ideas on what my problem might be? I'm on a pretty limited budget and would love to be able to fix it myself. Thanks for any help that you can offer!

Does it still have good power? My brothers did the same thing and it was his turbo, but it didn't have shit for power after it happened.

Could be an injector that let go as well....

sounds like EGR valve. Mine had the exact symptoms you are describing. When you try to accelerate do you have lots of black smoke and no boost indication? If so the EGR valve is probably stuck open.

Could be all and more than one of the things listed above, See if you can get a scan tool to see if there are any codes in the FICM or the PCM.
Sounds like a injector to me but without looking at the truck or knowing where to start the diagnosis it is hard to say.

My dad's 06 had the same problem, except the smoke was more of a blueish-gray. Took it to the dealer (still under warranty) they said it was a dirty EGR.

I would say injectors but more info is really helpful.
