Think i have everything figured out exept one very stupid question before i get started. When measuring say the B pillar across do you measure outside of tube to outside of tube or center line of tube to center line of tube. Just got my bender and gonna be attemping a cage off of Tin Benders floor chalk writeup.
Thanks

Outside of the tubing.
yep, outside when following Bender's 101.
although, i feel like if you had to ask that question, you don't understand everything you read in the tutorial, and should maybe read it again. wasting tube sucks.
my advice for someone just getting started... after marking your bend starting location, also draw a line or arrow along the length of tube in the direction the tube should be bent. double and triple check that you put the tube in the bender so the line or arrow you drew is running along the die. its very easy to put a bend in the wrong spot.
good luck

wasting tube sucks.
Wasting tube does, indeed, suck but you also learn from it (hopefully). If someone tells me they've never wasted a stick of tube, I question whether they've ever bent any.

Bendtech gets rid of the tube waste.

If you are willing to spend the money, Bend Tech software is worth every penny. For me, it saved a huge amount of time, and possible wasted tube for that matter. However, bending old school is cool too for the knowledge gain.

But it also takes a bit to get used to it. I guess I need to call him to have him help me master it.
agreed....BendTech is not the most intuitive of software programs. Especially since it is marketed to supposed beginner faber's

What did you guys find most difficult about the software? Hardest thing for me was calibrating the bender. Everything else was a breeze.

I now have Bend-Tech Pro and find it fairly intuitive. I don't know that it completely eliminates waste, but it's definitely helpful.
Technically, you have to waste a piece of tube to calibrate the software to your bender/die. :flipoff2:

This might be a good plan. I would guess you don't have something set up correctly in your tooling. We can fix that in a few minutes.
