: SD 60 DRW questions

I searched and didn't find my answers. I am considering picking up a DRW front and have a couple questions.

- what is required to convert to SRW? Is it just a spacer attatched with coarse thread bolts instead of wheel studs?

- what does it take to upgrade to 35 spline outers?

I would also want to convert to a 5 on 5.5 BP too. Are the 5 lug unit bearings for the SD axle just redrilled to the smaller pattern or do they need to be turned down too?

Thanks.

I don't know for sure but I think it's around a '99 or '00 model year. I'll ask the seller to be sure though.

Post up in this thread when you get to that point.

Will a 15" rim clear the brakes, or will he need a 16" rim with the 5 lug BP? I believe the DRW are just adapters on the front axle, but I do not have a Ford SD DRW here to confirm, only a 91 Dodge so that is no help.
To convert to 35 spl. I suppose just a custom stub shaft and a unit bearing that is bored out for the thicker shaft, and redrilled for your 5 5.5 BP.

I'm not sure of the exact year of the axle but it is out of an early Super Duty. Must be a bit older as it's a little rusty and looks well used.

I plan on running 17" wheels so clearance isn't an issue for me.

Has anybody had their unit bearings redrilled and bored out for 35 spline shafts or are people just buying new unit bearings that have already been modified? What did it cost? Are the 35 spline outers "custom" or is there a standard aftermarket shaft that fits?

I'll post up in the BJ high steer thread when I get the exact year figured out. I will be going with high steer of some sort.
