I have a front 60 with some flat steering arms...

I know I need to add some shims under the springs, I'm just not sure how much. Can someone share what angle the arms should be at?
I did a search for "dana 60 angle" and didn't find any help. Maybe I'm not searching for the right term.
I'm not sure what I'm at right now, but that's easy enough to find out:

I just have no idea what I'm suppose to be at when I'm done. Any help is appreciated.

You need to set you check your caster first and go from there. The caster determines the angle of the arms...

Thanks for clarifying TPIJeep, that's exactly what I'm getting at. I need to adjust the caster (and bring up the rear of the arms), I figured it was easiest to measure from the flat arms than to explain where caster is determined.
If I know what others are running (* wise) on the arms, then I will be able to work backwards to what I need. If someone has a caster angle, I guess that might work also.

I see something else in the photo's as a possible problem.
the steering arm placed under-neath a "stock" spring cover.
now the spring inside is hardly compressed... you should either
modify the knuckle-spring cap, but "shortening it" or put shims
ontop or underneath the spring inside the cap which has the
same thickness as that steering arm.

David,
Sunray built in 8* positive caster into my axles and it steers and tracks awesome.
6-8* with your 42's is optimum, but if you are at least 2* don't sweat it.
Try to stay away from shims if you can.

Thanks for the concern/tip. I have five washers underneath the cap. Five stacked washers were exactly the same height as the arms. They worked well.
6* - 8*, really? It seems like I have 20 right now! I'll have to take a look tonight. Looks like I may HAVE to get shims. Any good ideas on where to get some good steel ones that I could weld in?
I'll go search. :)

I got my steel shims for 45 bucks, 8 degree from this guy, I cannot remember his website but this is his email.. r.c.brown@ieee.org
They are real nice and got them in less than a week.
HTH... :D
Also Positive castor rotates the top ball joint towards the rear the of the truck so the back of your arms are going to be lower than the front... I run pos 7 degrees
HTH Again... ;)

Those are some good looking arms! :D
I run 4.5" positive caster. Any more and I get the death wobble.

Yes Ed, those are some damn sexy arms. I appreciate the lead.
On those shims CJ-Jeeper, are those steel? I'm thinking steel would be the best way to go as they could be actually welded to the perch.
Am I thinking correctly?
Thanks again. ~dso
