: 4.2 over oil pressure problem

Ok, so I have been finding a ton of oil dripping off the old 4.2 after driving the jeep at highway speeds for as little as five miles. I had my wife rev it in the garage, and to my dismay the oil was coming out of the dipstick tube in a steady spray. What the heck causes this? I am trying to think what has been changed since I bought the jeep (it didn't do it then), but nothing comes to mind that leads to over pressure in the crankcase. Any help is greatly appreciated at this point, since i am going on a run this weekend.

Thanks in advance!

Blowby.

Mine was doing the same thing by around 160K. If you stop it by plugging the dipstick tube somehow, you're just gonna start blowing seals (the front timing cover and rear main are usually the first to go) and the problem will only get worse.

Rebuild it or (better yet) replace it with a V-8.

Make sure you PCV components are working properly.
