I got a letter today with a recall for my old 2001 F350 Seems the Speed Control Detection Switch may leak brake fluid and start a fire. So if you have that year Super Duty go have it checked

08 said they had forgot straps on the fuel tanks, in an accident they may become loose and rupture causing a thermal event.

most of the fords 95ish and up are recalled for this problem. they replace the brake pressure switch and harness.

Mine has the rcall also. Gotta take it to get it checked out. How long's the repair take?

probably the most well-known recall ever. If your cruise deactivation switch isn't leaking at the time, they won't replace it. once the warranty expires the switch will start leaking and your CC will not work anymore. The switch is only like $20 and takes all of 30 seconds to fix

As said this is a very common recall. It isn't just the trucks it is pretty much everything Ford from 95 and up. I got one for my Crown Vic also.

Yup, my 99 was done under the recall but my father in-laws 97 wasn't. I changed it myself though for cheap. The parts guy knew exactly what I needed.

Isn't this recall only for the gas burners not the diesels?

It is only for gas burners. They also look at the switch, if its not leaking they dont replace it. They put a jumper harness in that has a fuse in the middle to prevent power surges in the switch that causes the fires.

Yes, but the diesels do the exact same things. Same damn switch. Oh well, as noted before its a $20 and 1 minute fix..

it was at one time now it is just about any ford that had a cruise option from '93 to '07 or so

This recall has been out since at least 2007 and it also includes any motorhome that has a Ford engine & speed control. I'm surprised some of you are just getting the recall letters.

Maybe my FIL will get it now. I wonder if they reimburse for the work already done?

Yes but you need receipts for where you paid someone else to do the work.

How does Ford know who the current owner is on a truck that's changed hands a few times?

I have an 00 psd w/ cc.

The labor is nothing. It only took 5 mins and the parts weren't bad either. Around $30 I think. Just curious if they'll replace the new one or how it will work.

They order up lists from states DMVs.
I got my recall notice yesterday, two weeks after I fixed it myself. I could have saved $20.
