: Playing with the new tow
Shrock 09-25-2002, 07:28 PM Bending is fun. :D
My first bend with it was a 180. I sure am glad I did not get that single shot 90deg one I was looking at.
That looks great! Tell us about the bender....
UZI 9mm 09-25-2002, 07:57 PM looks totally cool and fun. (you bastard:flipoff2: )
what are the four bolts 'n washers for on the plate that also looks welded to the tubing itself?
damn, but if that doesn't look like a Defender 90 back end for some reason!
Shrock 09-25-2002, 07:59 PM It is sweet. HUGE and beefy...like 225lbs. I got it shipped same day from here: http://www.mtechsupply.com
If you want hydro, get the 4. The designer told me that hydro was really an after thought retofit on the M3. Hydro was mandatory for me bec there is already so much crap in my shop. I mounted it to a stand on casters I made and just roll it out into the driveway.
The degree readings are easy to read down to 1/3 deg on the 4 and pretty much useless on the 3 I hear. Also it has this cool anti spring back thing that keep the tube from shifting while you reset for the next stroke. There are a few other cool features too. It is only like $200-$300 more than the M3 when both are setup with hydro I think.
BTW, that is on a Land Rover D90. Not a Sammi.

The bolts hold the tray on that the can is sitting in. Kinda hard to see the tray in the crappy pic. I could not put my name on something that had that crappy nylon strap rattle machine holding it on, so I devised that clamping gizmo.

great job.
funny! i just glued together some angle iron yesterday morning for a red Blitz jerry can holder before going for a day trip, and there was an swb series III Rover in my garage that the jerry can "belonged" to.:D weird.
-ran out of time and just ratchet strapped the can to the holder, and it drove me nuts with the vibration/clanking noise:mad: :p

yes sir, Mr. Bobaki. it is my very first (and only) four tired vehicle. i took my class 5 drivers test in it, directly off the showroom floor.:D
Jedi- it is just a simple 1" x 1" angle iron rectangle with a couple more welded together forming a "cap" along the top of the tailgate. this just locates the jerry can, with only a little supportive load bearing on the actual gate. the real support is from the vertical and diagonal pieces that go down to the bumper.
these two pieces end in a built up pad that i have drilled and placed a large bolt through, with a jamb nut. "loosen" the bolt, and the tailgate swings freely. "tighten" the bolt, and the weight of the jerry can and holder is transfered directly to the bumper.
i have braced the inside of the 'gate for the centered spare tire with material in a similar fashion.
