: anyone for surf and turf?
pismojim 09-26-2002, 02:20 AM Any interest in wheeling the beach, sand dunes and local hills around Pismo Beach, CA?
When: November 9-11, (Veteran's day weekend)
What: Wheeling the beach and sand dunes (Surf) and forests, canyons and ridge trails (Turf) around Pismo Beach. Camping on the beach or at Lopez lake.
I'm willing to "loosely organize" something very similar to this (http://www.sccxterra.com/calx3.html) well written description.
What do you think?
A day in the dunes, night run in the canyon and a day on the ridge.
Might be fun. The weather can be pretty nice on the coast.
If there is some interest I'll try to put something together.
Let me know if you're interested.
I've talked about it a few times, might as well give it a shot.
Thanks,

Dog House 09-26-2002, 05:53 AM Hey Jim, I'm down for some Pismo fun! I remember you and Kathrine talking about those trails at the beach last time and would like to hit them too. So count Cassidy and I in. :)

Excellent !
The trails can be tame but the scenery is good...

pismojim 09-26-2002, 03:19 PM It's not all sand around here.
The ridge trail about 20 miles inland...

Is that big falls? You thinking about heading inland as well?

Yes, the canyon is Big Falls aka Upper Lopez Canyon. The ridge is Garcia Ridge.
The tentative plan is:
Sat. Beach/dunes and big falls (evening/night run?)
Sun. High Mtn./Garcia Ridge (bonus: Historic Pozo Saloon).
We'd be going inland about 20-30 miles.

Jim,
this sounds great. I don' t know if I can make it, but if my schedule is open and the 45Waggie is ready to roll (so to speak), then I will be there.

YES, it's going to happen. I've heard from about 10-12 people.
If you're interested in joining the fun, but haven't told me, please email me directly.
I'm currently making a list and will be sending out some details shortly.
