JeepinIan 09-26-2002, 04:11 AM The Rubicon edition is being delivered to the dealers now.
There is going to be a Scrambler version of the the TJ in the next couple of years, and there will be a Rubicon version of it as well.
Sundowner 09-26-2002, 04:36 AM Is a Scrambler "enough" these days?
maybe if it had a full cap on it.
I don't think I could see my way to paying $25k-$30k for a std. cab pickup that has a half-ass excuse for a bed.
rockedtj 09-26-2002, 05:15 AM Here's a little more info on it.

cord318 09-26-2002, 05:17 AM Maybe DC could really fawk up and make an IFS TJ-8:rolleyes:
I liked the TJ Dakar concept they had a few years ago. I woulda much rather seen them make that than the Liberty.
looks like more of a "TJ-6" than a Scrambler from the wheelbase
moveaside 09-26-2002, 07:42 AM It also says they made a diesel engine an option upping the torque to 251lbs at 2000rpm and running it behind the NV231.
Payload is a lot higher and the height is lower than the TJ buy its 2' longer
Wonder if it will come with a better rollbar in the back when it comes out

They're running the diesel BEHIND the NV231:confused: ???
That would be interesting to see. Maybe DC figured out how to make the 231 survive.
Jayrockn7 09-26-2002, 12:58 PM it would be awesome to get a NEW "Scrambler Rubicon", TJ suspension with the works + wheelbase:eek:
XtremeGod 09-26-2002, 01:01 PM I thought people already owned Rubicons?

GRMhick 09-26-2002, 02:21 PM what happened to the rumor that the Tj was going on the liberty chassis?
Maine Jeepah 09-26-2002, 04:14 PM FWIW Stealer up the street from me has had a Rubi for a few weeks now. :p
MJ
kodak 09-26-2002, 09:40 PM I have to say that it more of a TJ-6 than a scrambler.
That would be nice lifted and swap the cheep Dana 30 for a RC 44 up front..
Weasel 09-26-2002, 10:34 PM This is the only strech TJ I would ever buy.
http://www.aev-conversions.com/gallery/SEMA1030.jpg
I agree. That is the only streach TJ.
Doc Savage 09-27-2002, 05:58 AM AEV is an OK stretch, but I prefer the TVC stretch, they actually add a second set of doors. Kid at one of the local high schools here has one. Looks great. Talked to some kids who wheel and know him and they say too bad he is a dork and would never wheel it.

Just look at the Willys concepts. IFS, unibody. There is also rumor that the next Wranglers will not have removable doors. Our "save us from ourselves" government is bumping up the standards on side impact, which will probably mean side curtian airbags
Here a link from a year and 1/2 ago. Don't know if much has changed.

moveaside 09-27-2002, 08:34 AM That stretch TJ is pretty sick:eek: Got a couple of friends with scramblers and I'm really starting to warmup to them
bluesman2a 09-27-2002, 12:04 PM Not all people with stretchies baby them... we saw this one at uwharrie, and while he wasn't flogging it, he wasn't afraid to get into it either.

CMeTopless818 09-27-2002, 12:09 PM I was at the a few weeks ago where I purchased my Jeep I asked if they had any "Rubicons" the Salesman said "A What"???
No "Rubicons in California until mid November.
Jayrockn7 09-27-2002, 03:20 PM I saw the first one to hit our area at one of the local dealers, black 5-spd, man these are what jeeps are supposed to be stock! they are very hush hush about the delivery times, told me they didn't know when the next one was going to come in, YEAH RIGHT! I know they can look up the shipping invoice for the whole month, plus only 1 dealer is getting 1 at a time. The price tag had a nice additional $2000 add-on for interior and paint protection, my ass! it's called price gouging, total was a little over $28,000 and it didn't have any options ex- AC & floor mats -($60) I want one of these bad but I think I'll wait until I can order one the way I want without any BS dealer add-ons from my PC at home.
Mowlasley 09-27-2002, 03:37 PM I was sitting in a Rubicon at the dealer here in Provo last week. They said it was the only one in the state and that they had two guys racing to get financing for it. It was nice to see a stock Jeep on the dealer floor set up like that, but in my opinion, you could do better mods than that much cheaper, and then finance some good trips. Just my opinion.
Trailer Park Trash 09-28-2002, 12:35 AM Mowlasley, the people in Provo were filling you with poop. I have had three already up at the I work at in Sandy. I had 2 units come in for stock 1 special order and another special order next week.
jayrockn7 that is pretty brutal 28000 grand gouge the one I still have on my lot is 28855 with Auto, A/C and all the options. We sold it for sticker.
But again who gives a Damn its just a Rubicon. If it had come with RC 60's front and rear then I would have a hard on.
Josh
mrmagoo1 09-29-2002, 01:04 AM What do you mean no rubicons in ca. till nov.
One just rolled off the lot here in Auburn. :D

Yeah, that guy's pretty :rainbow:, won't wave back to me whenever I see him around town, just scowls, but that's the way most guys from Grissom are. There's a kid from Butler that's got a pretty smooth TJ, his site is www.jeepinamerica.com
