No spark on my 91 Samurai. I thought it was the ignition module. It would lose spark when it got hot. Now there is none at all. I replaced the coil and module with known working units. Only thing I haven't replaced is the suppressor thingy. The computer was repaired 6 months ago because of injector problems.
So what the heck am I missing here? I would think bad wire, but that doesn't make sense when you consider the gradual loss of spark. I check wires, connectors, bunch of crap. The coil gets power, just not the "pulse". And I'm getting fuel.

if your coil isn't getting a signal pulse then the problem is either between your coil and your ECU, or the problem is that the ECU isn't getting the information it needs to send a pulse to the coil. now which sensor is it that it uses to calculate the timing of the ignition???

There is a crank sensor in the distributor, an ignition module and a suppressor (Filter thingy) Only one I haven't swapped is the suppressor but I am told they NEVER go bad.

This is in reference to a HD 74" from 20 years ago, put new points and condensor in (same as "filter" or suppressor-all are cap's of "--" value).
On way to Strugis it would cut out every now and then and run fine for miles. During bike week it became harder and harder to start. Finaly no more start or run.
The condensor (new one) had become defective. Put old one in from the jacket and motor fired right up and ran like a champ.
Replace the suppressor see what happens.

I had that on my 86. It was a lose fuse

I have heard of suppressors going bad......so never say never. And IIRC, when they do, it won't run.

It ended up being the computer. I had fuel problems in the past and Mandigital on EBay fixed me up. I re-sent him the comp and he fixed it under warranty for me. Cost me $10 to ship it to him and thats it... aside from the original $55.

I have read elsewhere where he doesn't always get them fixed right the first time.
Glad you finally got it going though. I know you have been working on this for a long time.

Everything I read about David has been good. He's well over 7000 in his EBay feedback. I'm sure your gonna have a problem or two. The first problem was the injector. Then a month later it was spark. My capacitors instead of going out at once leaked acid all over my ECM and caused a bunch of corrosion. A friend of mine replaced the caps for me then it still wouldn't run. Ended up being a bad copper trace on the board. David is fast, I sent the comp out on a Monday and got it back on Friday.
I had good experience with the guy. Definately happy with the service. Just waiting for the next problem. Seems I have the 1 month curse. So who knows what will be next.

There is almost always trace damage, when an ECM stops working from the caps leaking. At least the ones of mine that I have fixed have usually had trace damage along with bad/leaking caps. And unless you have a vehicle to plug the ECM into to check it, it is very hard to be 100% sure that you found all the open traces.
