I used this for my 2 Group D34 Yellow top Optimas, and no matter how I tried to arrange them, the top piece didn't fit. I had to trim it along the skull cut out to get it to work. I guess there is a difference in D34 and 34/78 batteries. My fault for not waiting for the D34 specific box to come out. Other than my impatience it is a nice product, just like the single box I bought for my other truck.:smokin:

Well I'm sorry to hear that, but at the same time, I'm glad to hear it, because I was wondering the same thing. So thank you?

I bought this battery box for my YJ, but I'm debating about putting it into my TJ instead, so.....either way, I'm gonna have to buy another one eventually :D I've been checking about every hour to see if it's shipped out yet, but.....no luck yet

the 34/78 has a raised area that runs from the top posts to the side terminals. might be to fit the conductor in there. i'm not sure how that would fit, but the 34 wouldn't.

The holes in the top plate I assume are for the vents on the top of the battery. For my batteries, I couldn't figure out a position that allowed for the vents to be in those holes and the posts to be clear. I couldn't get the holes to line up with the posts either. Maybe I just have 2 oddball Optima's?

You're right the holes in the top are for the vents on the 34/78 and the lid should fit the contours between the posts pretty closely on it as well. I'm sure I could make a lid to fit the D34, but the more common battery is the 34/78 and we've had huge success with our other two boxes so we continued the trend. I'll look into it. I still do plan on offering 2 more version of the lid so that you can orient the 34/78 in the 3 possible configurations.
