: TPI Fuel System

I am finally getting around to starting to look for the parts I need to complete my TPI set-up on a crate 350. All I need is a fuel tank, lines, fittings, filters, and misc crap.

The truck currently has a ford van tank mounted between the frame rails in the rear under the bed. The fill cap in just below the tail gate in the center and it's sometimes hard to top off if the truck is siting on a slight slope. The neck goes into the upper corner of the tank.

From the research I have done, I 'think' I found that a 99'ish blazer tank will work better. The fill neck is in the same spot but the fill neck connects to the top of the tank. If I use this tank I may have to have it sit slightly lower in the frame. I found one from a '99 4x4 with a 4.3. Will this sender work for my application?

The question is should I swap to a GM tank to allow me to use an internal sender and pump or should I use my existing tank and use an external pump and regulator.

All the reading I have done says internal is better but it would cost me more and if I buy a used tank the sender could crap out which is $$$. I'd have to change the pump anyways since I need a higher PSI for TPI.

Finished rambling, suggestions?
Build thread is in my sig and I think some of the TPI pic's are towards the end of it.

Ive done TPI and consider mself an expert of sorts after I troubleshot a problem on my rig for 8 months that ended up being the chip.
Get a Delphi pump for a 93 Vette . Dont settle for any other brand. I went through 3 pumps in 3 years. The Delphi has lasted the longest so far. And it puts out !

It's a direct swap for most GM senders?

What fuel tank did you use? Got pic's?

I used a 82 K5 tank with a S10 sending unit. All GM fuel sending units are the same ohm from the 50s all the way to like 96..........

I would recommend running an internal pump.
OEM pumps are of much better quality, like previously posted.
TBI and TPI sending units are the same and the pumps are interchangeable.

Yeah it fits right in the sending unit. Sorry no pics. the 93 Vette pump is capable of more psi then your plain jane TPI pump.

If you've already got a working gauge then use a Walbro 225 GPM inline pump, and you won't have any trouble.

Thanks.
I am going to use the Ford van tank that's in it now and adapt a pump to it.

i used a newer blazer tank with internal baffles and used a frame mounted pump for a 78 79? ford with a big block 460. puts out right around the correct psi

You had a 78 or 79 ford that was fuel injected? I would guess you ment 88-89?
