: 35 spline drive flanges Where do i get them and who has the best price
KrustyKruiser 09-26-2002, 11:43 AM Its all in the title. Anybody got a part #.
I was pissed i did a search came up with nothing, and then called warn and they told me that they do NOT MAKE drive flanges, i almost started laughing because i swear that i have helped a person change a broken shaft in a 60 and when i took off the drive flange i noted that it had a big red W on it.
I hear dynatrac has them but is there anybody cheaper? or better to deal with.
THanks

Front or rear? To replace the locking hubs or to replace the flanged axle. OK didn't read the whole thing. Gears to replace the locking hubs. I have seen Danatrac's, look good to me. Whats the price?
Slagburn 09-26-2002, 02:10 PM If you're talking bolt on external stuff like some Dodge 60's just make your own. Internal spline, isn't it a rear application, not front?
KrustyKruiser 09-26-2002, 02:37 PM Its for the front, its a chevy with internal splined hubs not the bolt ons.
Pig- I just called dynatrac, and they want 395, for a pair, i told the guy i wasn't looking for gold plated ones and he sain no that is for the regular ones.

That what I thought before I read the whole thread. I thought he was talking about drive plates to remove the rear flanged axle. I have some sitting on the shelf.
YELLER BLAZER 09-26-2002, 02:54 PM Spicer makes them and they are pretty cheap. Call 918-742-7478 they can fix you up! for much less than 395!

We have some prints done up for those 35 sp. drive geas. I do not have an ETA as of yet but thet will be about $170-$180.
Scott@Rockstomper 09-26-2002, 04:27 PM Dana Spicer P/N DAN620861 (well, that's Randy's part number).
I just got two of them in, and put them in my truck.
I was expecting them to be lockout hubs, but they turned out to be drive flanges. Spicer list price is $193.46 each; they actually sell for about $85ish each.
Randy's description is "Outer drive hub, 35 spl inside & 55 spl outside, D60 & D70". So I'm not sure if that's the right part in the box, but I don't much care--it's the right part for what I need, and it's not likely to break or be anywhere near as problematic as my last set of hubs was.
That's just the drive slug, not the dust cover, spacer, snap ring, spring, or whatever else is supposed to be used with the drive slug.
Scott@Rockstomper 09-26-2002, 04:31 PM Warn's part number for the equivalent "full float drive flange kit" is 39346; my cost on the Warn drive slugs is about $10 more than my cost on the #38786 lockout hubs (which are 35 spline D60), and the hubs sell for around $200 a pair.
I suspect the Warn drive slug kit, with all the other junk it comes with, is probably about a wash with the Spicer drive slugs by the time you get a dust cover and all the other junk.
KrustyKruiser 09-26-2002, 04:52 PM Thanks calling warn soon now that i have the part #.

Let me guess......you had Warn Premiums?
anthony_harris 09-26-2002, 05:36 PM Can the dust cover, spacer, snap ring, spring, etc. from a 30 spline slug setup be used with the 35 spline spicer slug??
mnstr_fx 09-26-2002, 05:57 PM Does anyone have a phone # for finding a local Spicer dealer? I was looking at getting the 35 spline stub shafts to go with the full time slugs and am having trouble finding a local dealer (central IL). Tried www.dana.com and didn't find anything. Either that or who do you guys order your OEM Dana 60 parts from?

I got the slugs that I have now, from Randy's R&P. Good prices, quick ship, etc. I can also resell anything Randy's sells, but I don't know how my pricing compares. Never really pay that much attention to it, mostly just get it in for local customers. Double-shipping stuff probably ends it up more expensive, but I dunno. I got my 35 spline stubs from Randy's too, plus my inners, my U-joints....

Y'know... someday, somebody is going to accuse me (again) of being anti-Warn. Yes, I had (still have, just now they're in a box instead of in my frontend) Warn premiums; the same part number I noted earlier.
One is currently minus a snapring groove (the end of the part that the snapring holds in, broke off) and the other, the return ("unlock") spring seems semi-inactive. I haven't taken it apart to find out if I simply crudded it up or if it actually broke--right now, I'll be running slugs for a while, so I don't much care what's inside the hubs. I'll prolly take the hubs along to Farmington anyway, just as a safety-net, but I'm not real sure there.
Dan Dibble 09-27-2002, 12:46 AM Call Randys, They are very fair.

Scott, I broke one of my premiums a couple of weeks ago. The actuating mechanism is now non-operational. It's stuck in the middle of being locked and unlocked.
Someone told me that the cheaper Warns (caps) are better to use with the 35 spline setup.
Any advise on this??
Thanks, Ricky...seeya...

I personally have broke 4 sets of these Warn 35 spline lockouts.
All the failures I have experianced sound about identicle to what you are all saying. I believe in my apllication the damage is comming from the axle walking in and out and causing the hub to unlock and then crash in and lock again....*maybe* Regardless I have also been told the cheaper caps hold up better than the premiums but I have yet to try it and have been in the middle of a project rig now for a over a year so priority is low ta fix the issue. But my drive plates always work well;-) I still think if you MUST run lockouts the factory early 70,s Spicer lockouts are the hot ticket. I have never seen one broke yet.

The early 70's Spicer lockouts is what I thought that part number was for... I actually ordered them in for a customer who wanted (still wants) 35 spline lockout hubs. Since they're drive slugs and I'm uncomfortable with the longterm durability of the hubs, plus my truck has a top speed of about 55 anyway, F-it, I'll just run the slugs and get the customer the set of hubs he wants from Warn. Apparently the Spicer hubs aren't available new any more.

No, but they pop up on eBay as 30 spline and I've even seen them pre-broached.

nvrenuf 09-27-2002, 08:16 AM I purchased a new set of Spicer hubs about 5 years ago but when I tried to get more I was told that the Spicer hubs are no longer in production and no more where available. I have a part number (it's different than the prevously mentioned number) at home for a single hub assembly, if you want it I can post it tonight.
Has anyone ever had a set of Spicers broached for the 35 spline? Any ideas as to who can do it or how much it costs?
P|n-BaLL 09-27-2002, 09:39 AM Yes I have had them broached * maybe 2-3 sets or so* and they work excellant. Never have broke one although they can be broke I have heard but EXTREAMLY unusual. Broaching I have done is by a local fellar here and he charges I believe $45 a set to do em. Should be able to get it done about any place that does axle work..I know at one time Moser was broaching the early Spicer drive gears...... not sure if they still do but I imagine a call will give ya the anwer.
