New Dodge front D44 ?

I keep noticing that the new 2001 and 2002 Dodge 1500's have what looks like a shaved front diff. What is it? Or am I just seeing things?

well, you must be seeing things because the 2002 dodges have IFS <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> . ANd on the 2001, the off road package has a beefed center section... but I dunno anything about it being shaved... maybe I should go look under my 96.. though, it looks normal to me.
