I'm in need of a new set of tires. What do you guys run or like? I want an AT tire that gives great traction but isn't really noisy. Preferably a Load D or E. Also gives some decent milage, I just wore out my firestone wilderness AT that came with my truck when i bought it. 35000 miles.

I dumped my Fireboms and put on Michelin (265/75/16) LTX M/S Load range "E"on my Excursion.I went with the "E" because it weighs almost 4000#. Kinda pricy but worth it. I thought about the Nitto
Terra Grappler AT but no one could give me any feedback on them. I think they are new. Good luck.

We have too much mud here. Even my tow rig gets "MT's". I used to have a set of Cooper Discoverer LT's & it's a REALLY popular tire around here. At 40,000 miles, my set still had 50% tread when I traded them in on something nastier (got $50 a piece from the tire dealer). I run these on my trailer now. Maybe not super quiet for an "AT", but way quieter than ANY "MT". But, price is right and they wear like nails. Just not enough traction off-pavement for me though.

I agree w/TEX. The places I tow my stuff into can be nasty to get out of if there is any mud. Try dragging a 12.5K lb. gooseneck trailer up a muddy hill on all terrians, let alone the 6500 lb. truck. Not gonna happen. I run BFG KM's on the tow truck. Tire noise isn't an issue when you have a Cummins rattlin' under the hood.:D

Check www.summitracing.com for prices on the Pro Comp tires. They are alot cheaper than 4wpw.

I also run MT's on my tow rig. You may never tow in the mud or slop, but when you do you'll be happy to have them. For the brand I run Bridgestone MT's. Kinda pricey but my Dad retired from there so he gets 1/2 off all tires. Kinda limted in the sizes aswell. The first size I ran was the stock for my truck, 235/85R16. Way to small in my opinion, but I got the best mileage out of them about 46k. This next size is a 285/75R16. They're too wide for my stock 6" wheels:eek: Going to get new wheels or go to the 255/85R16 next time. Overall I've never regretted running a MT on my tow rig. When your pulling through a nasty campground with a load or through the field at a fairgrounds event, they work for me.

Anybody running General STs? I'm thinking about getting a set. I'd really like to run a M/T, but I put 40k a year on the F250, so them lasting a year is a big deal.

Judging from the wear so far at ~24K on my BFG KM's so far, I expect them to go well past 40K. Size is 33x12.5x16.5. I've been rotating them every 4-5K. Keep in mind this is on a 6,500 lb. '93 Dodge Cummins truck with 600 ft. lbs. of torque at the rear wheels that regularly tows 12-13,000 lbs on weekends, and I drive it daily. I have to say I'm impressed with these tires.:D

Well I just got back from getting my new tires. I went with the Michelin LTX AT in 235/85R16 Load Range E. I also got a set of American Eagle model 055 wheels. All I can say so far is wow! What a huge difference in ride and noise compared to my old Bridgstone 661's. And the wheels look pretty damn good too. :smokin:

Here are the before and after pictures. Note the after picture includes a "new" non-rusty box. :D:D:D
