was driving my 95, 1500, 5.2 down the freeway, kicked in to passing gear and accelerated, engine started missing, pulled to the side and shut it down. now it runs like crap. it has 40psi fuel pressure at the rail, in time(new timing set and tune up). i am at a loss, am checking the puter codes this morning. any ideas?

check for vacuum leaks and loose wires and do a compression check. also check to see what spark plugs you are running, if they are AUTOLITES change them they are junk. I went through three sets in less than 500 miles(about a week)before i figured out they were junk and their warranty was not any good

Make sure all of the plug wires are still attached. It sounds like something in the ignition system.

plugs are bosch platinums, checking vacuums and such and doing a compression check...sound like i need a pro which i can't stand to waste money on to diagnose.

Check the O2 sensor near the cat converter. I have had the same thing happen twice on my 98.

one time it went bad, the other time the cable broke, right after I stomped the gas and it kick down. It instantly ran like crap, wouldnt idle, wouldnt maintain speed. Sound familiar?

Good luck

yeah, runs like crap, but it misses VERY bad, seems like it only runs on about 4 cylinders. will check that stuff out though
