: Superlift ORV park event
Fear Factory 09-26-2002, 03:27 PM There's going to be a Land Rover event in Hot Springs Arkansas at the new Superlift off road park (www.orvpark.com) the weekend of October 11th. Anyone around there and interested in coming? Last I knew some of the folks from houston were going up, any other Texans coming up?
Big Green 09-27-2002, 10:30 PM Sounds like a party to me. Count me in! I've geot a little work to get done if I'm going to make it. As long as my parts show up on time and I can get my mechanic out at Land Rover of Belton to get his ass in gear.
Fear Factory 09-28-2002, 09:28 PM I've used that guy out in Belton before on a few things and you're right he does move at his own pace. Last time I talked to him he had crossed over into Jeeps and was working out an arrangement with a waitress at a local bar to get her Jeep tricked out. She said money was tight right now and she had a prick boss but the Belton guy suggested she should steal from the asshole to get her lift kit and 37s. I think if you're patient he may find some time to work you in. Also while I was out there he was showing me a new air compressor he just got. It's perfect for taking on trips and such.

tblackj 10-01-2002, 11:01 AM That event is put on by the Land Cruiser Club here. But, I think it is open to all vehicles so come on. There will be a bigger ride the next weekend if you can hold out for it. It will be the Superlift 4xAdventure and should bring in about 150 rigs of all kinds. They are usually pretty fun. If you have any questions please let me know, I helped build that park and it is a lot of fun.
Fear Factory 10-01-2002, 06:26 PM I heard there was a cruiser event there that weekend too but the club in Kansas City is having their own event as well. Can't wait to see the park, it looks good from the pictures.
tblackj 10-02-2002, 05:33 AM Well count me in. I don't get a chance to ride with very many Rovers since no one around here has one, that they wheel. Lots of Discos and 4.6's that soccer moms cruise around in.
Is the club in Kansas pretty hardcore or are their rigs medium duty? Like are we talking 32" tires or 37" tires.
Fear Factory 10-02-2002, 10:02 AM The club up here tried to have an event with the now defunct Arkansas Rover Society or whatever it was called. It sounded like a disaster, none of them would go down any trails. The club out of Kansas City is pretty varied. There will be defenders with 35+ tires and stock discoverys as well as a disco with 34" swampers. Know any other Rover owners around that might come? There's some people in Oklahoma but they don't seem very much into offroading.
tblackj 10-02-2002, 11:34 AM The reason I was asking is that my Rover only has 32" BFG MT's and an ARB in the rear. I just didn't want to show up and be surrounded by a bunch of D90's with 40's and dana 60's front and rear.

Why not? I like the looks on their faces when that happens.
It's even better if you can do what they do.....

tblackj 10-02-2002, 12:08 PM I'm just not past the fear of body damage stage. I still like my paint and body panels the way they are. I'm in therapy but it's going slow.
Big Green 10-02-2002, 12:48 PM The best way to get over the fear of body damage is to acquire some. Although it's different for everyone, I find that most "challenging" trails have some risk of body damage. If your driving skills are finely tuned you don't have much to worry about. If not, you'd better stick to the bunny slopes.
tblackj 10-02-2002, 01:03 PM I've got an old Jeep that I don't mind the body damage on but the pretty shiny RR I just can't seem to scratch. I have some Rovertym rocker panel guards that I have had on order for about 2 months that should protect me a little bit offroad but until those come in I am just winging it.
