Looks to be little chance of rain... anyone interested in a little last minute flogging before the snow hits?

I cut some new ledges out last weekend, too.

That place looks freakin awesome. Once I am home form this little deployment and rebuilt I will definitely be heading out that way. And bringing CTChevy with me.

Figures nothing is ever close to me. Your roughly the same distance as Rausch Creek. It is cool though an off-road park is in NY!:cool2:

all the regulars are either broken or pussed out today, so i didn't open the park.

BUT i have to do a little testing on my buggy (the blue one in the first video) so i'm going to be down there tomorrow if anyone wants put some tires on rock.

Should be a nice sunny day.

it's completely not-for-profit thing, run only out of my pocket and a few donations.... so i'll post a link:
rok-park info (http://www.rok-freekz.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=16)

Who cares if you made a profit? I think you should as long as the price is reasonable.

believe it or not some people have gotten pissy thinking i'm plugging a business or the Rok-Freekz site, so i throw in that disclaimer once and a while.

it's never been about making money for me, but i do appreciate the donations i get. Anything that comes in goes directly to the fucking NYS tax man and if anything is left over improvements and fuel for backhoe. with this in mind, i figure once enough people figure out that this place is the real deal, and appreciate what i'm doing, i won't have to charge admission to make the park more than self-sustaining if that's where i want it to go.

not once has someone left at the end of the day thinking that they have beaten Rok-Park...

This is awesome.

Your mindset is the only way I believe that we will be able to wheel here (and maybe other places) in the next 5, 10, however many years.

The public land we have access to is shrinking if not already nonexistant. If individuals don't step up and start using some of the land they have available for offroading, there won't be any more offroading unless you are on maintained dirt roads

Even better if you can get some donations to cover taxes/land improvements. If you wanted to charge for the privilege to use the land, you would have every right.

Keep up the good work, I've been working on some private trails in NY as well, and the more that do, the more trails there will be :smokin:

Just the fact that you have to post up disclaimers like that is lame..

When my rig is done im sure to attend..But why would anybody care if your trying to make a profit..You are offering your property for use..I guess people dont know about takes and iunsurance etc etc..

Id rather pay a fee to run my rig instead of an impound fee and fines to9 run on some illegal land.

We toss lots of cash into our rigs and think the sport stops there. And we wonder why the import crowd gets prevalance over our places of venue before we do..

The OHV sport is a privaledge and not a right.Uncle sam has shown us that he doesnt give a damn about us as he closed down trails.Private land owners are all we will have in the years to come.

insurance is prohibitively expensive for a hobby. it's around $7000/ yr, and does nothing to stop accidents before they occur.

a hefty release of liability, NYS laws protecting land owners, removing any man-made hazzards, being a little selective of who runs the land, having control over what is going on, and safety first are practiced. it may not be perfect, but stopping accidents before they happen is what i believe in.

"Unknown to most private landowners, New York State offers some protection for you against lawsuits regarding recklessness on your property. General Obligations Law §9-103 helps landowners with a special immunity against the usual duty to keep designated open spaces reasonably safe for persons who enter to recreate. The key prerequisite favors owners against users who enter places to engage in statutorily enumerated recreational activities, including by specified motorized vehicle operation. The complementary goals of the statute are to encourage landowners to leave and allow their open lands to be accessible to recreators, the inducement being the special immunity; and to correspondingly withdraw from recreators, as a quid pro quo, their usual right to sue an owner for injuries suffered from failure to keep a place reasonably safe. As with most laws, further consult your attorney for more information on the NYS General Obligations Law."

hey, i've visited and searched the www.rok-freekz.com website. I am still not clear on how the park works, or any real details of it. From what i read on the website i see a few buggies climbing up boulders and it seems to be open only when the owners around. So i have a few questions

How big is the park?
Is it open to the public? What days/hours if so? Cost?
Any pictures/videos of wheeling trails that would fit full size fully locked chevy k5's, burbs, pick ups?

Thanks a lot!

i see you signed up, welcome aboard.

yah, only open when i'm around. i now have weekends off again due to a job change. so most weekends i'll be down there thrashing my junk.

we've had full size rigs run. most are well built rock specific built rigs, though. and they tend to leave a little more wrinkled than when they show up.

i don't charge, but i appreciate donations or rok-freekz swag purchases so when tax time comes around i'm prepared.

FYI, i should be down there this weekend.

follow this link and scroll through for some vids and pics of some full size rigs at Rok-Park (http://www.rok-freekz.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=207&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=10) .... some of you will recognize a few of the rigs. we thrash year round, and with the weather coming up soon this is a good link to re-visit anyway. :)

if you can sit through the terrible blown mic in the middle of this 20 minute vid, there is a dakota on 60's getting bitch slapped in the rain.... sorry Mike. ;) :

i'm glad the ball is rolling. :D

get to wrenching, i hope to have some comps next summer.

i don't drag my buggy through the salt, so the old Rover pulls Winter Duty. Snow is a great equalizer, keep on the look out for upcoming winter runs.

there really is something for everyone, though. don't let the buggies keep you away.
