Going to Johnson Valley to tackle the Hammers trails if anyone wants to join our group let me know! This is some pretty hardcore wheeling so if you want to come, you would need to come prepared. I've been told that the group that is going is mostly Jeep based with a couple buggies. I think everyone is running at least 37" tires and locked up at least in one end. Any mog should be fine but you should preferably have the gas tanks and battery packs out of harms way. They've got some pretty big rocks down there at the hammers.
Check out this link if your thinking about joining us to get a good idea what the hammers is like. http://web.mac.com/dansflb/DanDreher/DansVids.html

I wish you gave more notice, I might be able to come out and play. What time on Saturday are you guys going to be at the lake bed? What trails?

Well I'm leaving Folsom Ca Saturday night around 10pm so I won't be to the lake bed until Sunday morning probably around 10-11am guessing that I will stop either to eat or sleep a little on the way. I will be there from Sunday - Wednesday and we plan on hitting multiple trails probably wrecking ball, aftershock, sledge hammer, etc. Send me an email if you think you can make it and I'll give you my number if you don't have it and where our group will be.
Best Regards,

If you guys don't get to the Hammers untill noon on Sunday you might have a chance to do 1 mabey 2 trails before dark. I was hoping to join you on this trip ( I love the hammers in my mog ) but 7 hours on the road to hit up Sledge is a lot. Let me know were you are going to be camping, I might be sick on Monday.

We will be camping on towards the left side of the lake bed, there will be 3 Dodge trucks and our big White Itasca Horizon motorhome. I can tell you don't feel good, I think you should definitely take a sick day and work out your sickness on the trails. It will be a blast! Hope you can make it!

Wish I could have met up with some of you from the forum, we had a great trip. There was 1 guy out there with a 404 with rear steer and the slickest winch mount I've ever seen. I will post up some pics I took later.
About the trip we went to Johnson Valley Hammers trail, and the when I got there 2 of the 5 rigs were already broke from doing the first trail we went on, which was called spooners. It's a new trail that people just started wheeling, so there are no beaten paths or stacked rocks, and it's hard to tell in the video but I'm taking the only line, so there is no bypass period and no easy lines. My spotter was taking the footage so the really hard spots were not even filmed. The mog killed the trails and when it was all over we did spooners & claw hammer the first day and sun bonnet and sledgehammer the second day. Out of 5 rigs at the end of the trip, my mog and one other competition buggy were the only two not broken! It was a good day.
There are two videos of the trip on my web gallery, the first is a video I did for youtube with no music and the second is a video with music and some extra shots from the other trails.
The last night one of the guys who I hadn't met before told me, "you know Dan when you pulled up I would have taken any bet that you wouldn't make it down the trail with us, and after you fired your mog up I would have been willing to double that bet." He said after that, I'm glad I kept my mouth shut because I would have lost a lot of money. He broke his Dana 60 going down sun bonnet the second day.
Here is the link to my web gallery, the two videos are:

Hammers Nov 09 (Longer with music)

Cool pics, I like the part about the guy that said you could not make it. I show up more people with my Mog that say it's to big or old. It killed me to miss going out again, I will be there this weekend and try to make up for it. Next time give plenty of warning and I will take off of work.

I know, I wasn't sure I was actually going until a little less than a week before the trip. I plan to go again for KOH which I believe is around February. I'm down to do a rubicon run before it becomes filled up with snow. Let me know if your in.

That was inspirational Danny. I put my mog away for a little while since the Barrett Lake Trip but I think it needs a little beating soon. My favotire things about that video are:
1. Your door hinge lifting that huge rock up several inches while the front passenger tire is in the air
2. The spotter tells you to back up, you don't hear him, you lift up a huge rock with your hydro skid plate, roll it over and keep going, then ask if you need to back up.
