been thinking about finally doing something with my axles/gearing on my cj. currently have in the jeep the bone stock amc20/d30 with open 3.31's on 35's. my jeep sees both street and trail use.

not long ago i got a matched set of scout d44's, 3.54 gears for FREE (guy just wanted them hauled out of his yard)

due to my legal battle with my ex-wife, the budget is tight. i have thought of a few ideas and would like some input....

1) regear the amc20/d30.. sell off the d44's to offset the cost of the re-gear

2) install the rear 44 only. regear the rear d44 and the front d30, sell off the front 44

3) install both 44's... regear later when budget allows. (not much of a differance between 3.31 and 3.54.) drawback i see to this is the front is gonna take ALOT of fab work that i am unable to do, according to the reasearch ive been doing.

4) just run what i currently have for now. keep the d44's, plan to install them later and turn the work into a bunch of smaller projects. install when d44's are finished and needed parts are fabbed for the front.
