How much should I expect to pay for a good Dana 18 T-case with a warn over drive:confused:

Dana 18 $50-$100
Good warn OD - around $700.

I have bought a couple of warn od's for around $200, but they usually need parts, and the parts arn't cheap. Main thing to check is that the planetary assembly isn't screwed up.

IMO Warn overdrives are junk. I had too rebuild mine 3 times in a little over 30,000 miles. I even used it like a true overdrive the last rebuild (only on the freeway after the oil was warm) in an effort to make sure that thing was getting enough oil. Lasted a whopping 6,000 miles. I would suggest finding a way to run it without the overdrive. Just my $.02 take it or leave it. Between myself and 3 buddies that ran them, we all had to rebuild that a minimum of twice within 20,000 miles, and like Old Jeep was saying, it sure as hell isn't cheap to rebuild one.

True, you do have to keep the transfercase fuller than normal, which normally requires an extended breather to keep the tcase from puking oil. The other thing that helps is to make sure that the oil "scoop" is pried open as far as possible without contacting the planetary.

The parts that tend to wear out are the spider pins which in turn cause the spider gears to wear and chip.

I think they work fine as long as they are kept well lubricated.

BTW, the early Warn OD's only had 2 spiders instead of 4 - stay away from them.
