anyone know of an on-line steel wieght chart??
Something to get the weight per-foot of various steel shape like flat bar, tube, angle stock etc???
I really need a Machinery Handbook....

steel weighs 490#/cubic ft.
that's .283lbs per cubic inch.

it's obviously of no use if you don't know how to use a calculator.

actually, that *can* be kind of usefull, but of course then I would need to calculate the volume of the material I'm usuing (not *that* difficult), to find the weight per foot or per inch of the material...
works, but I was kind of looking for a lazy man's chart that says "1.25 x 1.25 x .25 angle weight xlbs./ft...."..... you know, lazy math :D
Goat1: matweb.com is kind of cool, but I was surprised that some material shapes weren't in there little calculator... like angle, or channel....
they do have a TUBE finction though... figure out how much tonnage the new cage is going to add... ;)
on a related note.... I will need to do some load calculations on an I-beam for my shop..... been a while since I done those. Any hints??

ya, I posted this before I talked to you.... still surfing around that site.
Not seeing exactly what I'm looking for.... but I'm still looking...
