Hey guys normally i dont post questions just reading up on all the good stuff on this site but had a question about a trailer i found off harbor freight website. I havent made the trip to go look at it but was wondering if anyone here as had one. Was looking at this one http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=92174

I bought a newer truck and lost my 8ft bed, 6ft bed and a toolbox leaves little space, trailer isnt for anything heavy dutie and wont be going cross country with it. Just using it for a 700ish pound quad, dead dear and other lightside loads i cant seem to fit in my truck bed anymore.

So basicly are these a waste of cash or are they ok for the price and of course im looken for there 20% coupon before i buy it, i would really like a duel axle beefer utilitly trailer with Brakes but cash flow is kinda well crap at the moment so any insite would be appreciated.

Thanks

Go look at it....I looked at one awhile back then went and spent $200 more for a real one with 3500# axle and 15inch wheels.....I would just say go look might work for what you need but they are really light weight

i have one of the 4'x8' trailers that i have had for 3or4 years. It has handled a 1200# welder and 4 wheelers and has been over loaded with fire wood a few times and it has heald up rather well .

I got a one year old 4X8 on craigslist for $300 when I sold my full size. It's not heavy duty and only has a 2000 pound capacity but it's perfect behind my 4runner. It's great for dump runs and picking up materials. It's got a drop down ramp and 2 foot high sides. It's a discontinued model but there are things like it if you look out.

For a cheap trailer that's brand new, Pep Boys has a pretty decent 5x8 one.

I have had 2 harbor frieght trailers and the first one I got 5 years ago and it was a good trailer for its intended usage. The one I bought about a year ago you can tell they have cheaped them out. I put my 600 pound welder on it and it bent the tounge of the trailer and there wasn't more then 100 pounds of tounge weight. I would get a used trailer before I bought another hobo frieght trailer.

Junk, A friend of mine bought one for hauling his 4 wheeler. bent the tongue the first time he loaded the quad in it. Brought it to me to weld it up and reinforce it. I told him to recycle it and save time. You can get a good used trailer for a few hundred bucks if you watch Craigslist.

I got a pop up camper trailer for free from CL and stripped everything off down the to bare frame and screwed some plywood down and it has been a great small trailer I pull around for metal, plywood, and anything else I need while I have been building my Uhaul/RV toter...

if its a bolt together trailer weld every thing you can. my brother got a small trailer to pull some stuff behind his civic (i know)from NY to NV, he said he had to re tighten alot of the bolts or lost them.

I can't speak to that style of HF trailer but I have one of the 1195 lb foldable ones and have beat the crap out of it for 4 years now and I'd do it again. ITEM 90154-0VGA is 1195lb and ITEM 94564-9VGA is apparently more heavy duty at 1750lb. Catch them on sale then with the 20% and it's a deal you can't beat for a light weight trailer. I paid right around $275, toss in another $30 for wood and I wasn't able to find a used trailer in my area for $305 much less one that would be worth the hassle of rebuilding or was that random good deal.

Not counting the wood floor and rails I've put 19, 80lb bags of crete in it (1520lbs), 1400lbs-ish of scrap steel according to the junkyard, and an unknown weight of cut down trees to the recyling yard with no problems, no bent metal, nada. Obviously it's not a premium brand but for what they are they work well. The lights are crap though. And I never lost a single nut or bolt.
