I recently purchased a 20' ,dual axle, flatbed trailer to haul my crawler on. The trailer is equipped with surge brakes. The problem is the brake reservoir was completely empty. What is the correct way to bleed these brakes? Thanks!

Depends on the Manufacturer and style of the surge hitch as there are differing methods usually involving a Flathead screwdriver. Surge hitch styles haven't really changed over the years so I just usually look up the bleeding instructions on the manufacturer's website.
Here's probably one of the better instructions video on bleeding brakes on Youtube:
YouTube - How To Bleed Trailer Brakes And Adjust Trailer Brakes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlndIQFSOZo)
Not the best video it does show a some methods with the first few minutes though. Hope it helps.

Wonder if you could use a vacuum pump like I do on motorcycle brakes.
