First I want to apoligize for being a newbie. And I am prepared for the tongue lashing that you all are about to dish out. Searching said nothing about humidity. And I know that this probably belongs on gen chit-chat but i need your help fast!

I am in a tight spot. My "wifes" home owners asssoc. just sent me a letter telling me to move my Jeep out of my driveway. I just moved in a month ago and have been trying to stain the concrete floor since. BUT it has been raining the entire time. Thanks to mother nature, after not raining all summer.

Not to beat around the bush any longer, Sherman Williams said not to apply the HP Silicon Arylic Concrete Stain in humidity higher than 50%. Can anyone give further info on this? Has anyone gone against the grain and went out on a limb and said screw the humidity? If so, to what avail? Or can anyone recommend a different brand, and from where to get it, that eliminates the humidity factor. The floor will house my YJ and a DD TJ.

The floor is brand new never been parked on or had anything on it period and was is etched with muratic acid.

Thanks Guys.

1) Contact your HOA and let them know what the deal is... that may get them temporarily off your back.

2) Scott Paints has a nice expoxy based product that was put on my garage floor down here in humid southwest florida last year (August/September) with no consideration for the humidity. It took fine and has held up pretty well.

beater74, my point exactly.

rkcrawl, do you happen to have a way of contact for Scott Paints. I don't think they are in Atl.

Just curious: What the hell is wrong about using the driveway to park a car? Or is it in a state of "disassembly"?

Read your CC&R's, mine states that it can't e left for 24hrs in the same location, chalk a few lines out and move it back and forth....unless its in repair then they get fussy....but their are always ways around it....not sure about paint..I live in Az and 50% is easy to beat....sometimes too dry....

I don't see a damn thing wrong with parking MY vehicle in MY driveway. I pay the morgage on the damn place. The Jeep looks GREAT, to me at least. It will run down the road all day long if it had that tiny little state issued sticker saying that it could.

I thought about all the little loop hole options too, but i really don't want any problems and just want to get it the garage and out of the weather anyway.

Well i don't have any help for you other than that sucks...i am too young to own a house or be married, but damn...when i had my vehicle in a *state of disassembly* for about 1 month no one cared, i had my parents neighbors come up and joke w/ me on when it's gonna get done...but nothing serious, this is a neighborhood with 90 houses, i guess im in a rude awakening for once i get truly on my own...maybe i shouldn't try the 1 ton project for my scout in the apartment complex parking lot:rolleyes:

good luck man:cool:

Close the door and run a window A/C or a dehumidifier in there for a while to get the humidity down.

Here, we have a police force whose only job is to run around and cite you for building code violations-like "Abandoned" vehicles. My flat bed was tagged as abandoned in spite of the tire tracks through the foot of snow we'd just gotten.

If you own two vehicles and a neighbor doesn't like you, they can complain about a vehicle... When the "Inspector" arrives, they will cite whichever vehicle is there at the time. If you don't demonstrate it operational, they will confiscate it, in spite of your driving it every day-happened to my neighbor's son and the city crushed the car the same day they confiscated it so he couldn't even buy it back at the auction!
