I bought a PSL kit and receiver for $300, so in a few weeks I'll see if I can throw it together. For now, I'll have to settle for my .308 AK. I did find some 54r ammo at a local gunshow for way cheap though...

How can I make a PSL (dragunov ) Cali legal? I have wanted one of those. Can they be top loaded if you fix the mag?

Those PSLs are a badass deal. They don't come with a scope though so if that's important the AIM surplus ones are probably about as good a deal. I really want a second PSL, I already have the stock 4X scope from my first one (I upgraded to a 8X POSP) so I could use it, and I have a shitton of mags. I want to cut one down as far as possible with the stock gas tube, and put more normal AK furniture on it, to make basically a giant AK/blaster out of it. :D

I'm looking to go 16" bbl with my PSL. It will use standard ak furniture, and probably the ace stock/ergo grip shown above. As for Ca legal, they are 10 round mags, so they only thing to comply with is the blocked mag release. Same as any ak with a pistol grip.

Ok, after waiting a couple weeks for leprous turtles to carry a gasblock from Colorado to Ca, my heavy barrel (short) PSL is starting to look like something. I've got the receiver rivited, the tapco FCG modified, the barrel turned, the retainer modified and the Tabuk brake trimmed down. The OAL with the perm mounted brake is 16.08". I'll be trimming the gasblock and mounting the front sight there Tuesday, get it finished maybe next weekend.

It's amazing what the sten kits are going for now. I picked up a bunch of them from tapco for $25 each awhile back. Centerfire has them for $125. I think I paid $2-3 each for mags.

One of these days I'll get around to building a semi sten.

after the 7.62X25 in a STEn mag discussion, I went to look, just here at the house, I have over 300 STEn mags...hmmm...most are still packed in cosmo from WWII...I think it was Sarco that had them for about 45 CENTS each AFTER shipping...according to the packing slip in the wooden chest some of them came in...looks like I order 600...I know I have sold/given/traded away a buttload of them, but saved a bunch for the STEn and M11 projects.

I traded Pete the FSB, GB and gas tube, along with the upper/lower hg, and he threw in a KVAR stock set worth about $80, so in total I've got $330 plus some spray paint into it. I machined and welded the FSB/GB combo, and made the bbl into a 16" (including perm FH) heavy barrel.

Oh, its still mag catch gayness. One bonus is that the PSL mag is 10 rounds stock, so its cool there. Other gayness is Ca's OAL min is 30", not 24", so the folder can't fold without extending the bbl or adding something to the rear of the receiver...

If you end up doing a sten build it would be cool to start a thread on it! I would love to see the steps...
