Ok,
So I've finally pinned down the head gasket problem on RR#1 (the '90 SWB).
After replacing EVERY hose under the bonnet today (even used new hose clamps), and driving it around for 3 hours off and on (topping it up 3 times), I located a very small leak (pinhole size) at the front of the left side gasket. I even replaced the overflow tank and cap also.
The hole in the gasket must be really tiny, because it blows small bubbles, but quickly.
Does that stop leak crap really work????
If you can't tell I'm NOT looking forward to doing it the *right* way.

did that stuff you dropped in the serious one ever work for your wonderful hissing radiator?

kind of.
I need to pull it out and get it re-welded I think.
I only had to top it off once heading to Vegas, and since I don't remember it being much of an issue I suppose it worked. (huh?)
I was too worried about my lack of rear suspension and falling asleep at the wheel.
Yep i have a Nissan RB30 engine in my daily driver and it has had a sealer called CHEMI WELD in it for 2years and i have only had to add to it once the other week but for $7 a bottle im not spending 6hrs changing a head gaskit.
If you have CHEMI WELD available over there it works well but all of these adatives cause problems when you go to fix the real prob as they clog up a lot of stuff and its hard to clean out.
I didn,t care as this engine has over 250 000 miles on it and when it finaly stops i will just replace the complete engine.

come on slade, do the job right. there is no such thing as a mechanic in a can. A head gasket job should only take you about 6-8hours if you have never done it before, and you work on it non stop. I can do head gaskets in about 2.5-3 hours. its easy man. If you have not done it, call me and I will talk you trough it. Also keep in mind the parts for a head gasket job, are only around $450 at the dealership, and if you want you can do a valve job while your in there, plan an extra 1hr or so for the valve job.
If you want to do it, or need help, call me at (214)478-4190
