: Battery powered grinder/cutter

I was wondering if someone knew of a portable battery powered grinder.

Basically, I'm looking for a portable solution to get a couple of parts at the pick-n-pull without having to spend several hours doing an entire dismantling.

I want a part that if I cut one link will take me 5 minutes to get... I've yet to pull that link apart in the past on the three cases I've dealt with:p

Thanks,
John

2 options:
dewalt 18v cordless 4" circular saw with abrasive blade

or

CO2 tank with air cutoff tool for tight spots.

rented a gas cut-off saw once for the same purpose:D
(it's like a chain saw with a 14" abrasive wheel on the end)
not the best solution for tight spots tho.

last year I used one of those cheap 19.99 grinders, a power inverter & my Optima yellow top.

I had a old luggage carrier (cheap excuse for a hand truck) strapped the Optima to that, duct taped the inverter to the frame of the carrier just above the battery, then uzed some heavy duty zip ties on a tool bag above that. some wrenches, screwdrivers, a BFH, grinder & a drill wole thing weighed ~75lbs.

Took me about 15 min to rig it up, it fell apart after about the 3rd time I tried to use it but it saved my ass that first time or two, & did'nt cost me a dime!

ya.... I would do something like Darren suggested....a car battery, 4" handgrinder with cutting wheel attached, and one of these http://www.electronicsoutpost.com/vec043.htm

first check to see if the PNP will LET you bring some sort of device in...

I seriously suspect they will not let any device that emits sparks into the yard (grinder, portable torch etc)... too much potential for fire (fluids, oil all over the ground, interiors, plastics)

Fire in a PNP would be nasty.

you may get away with a batt. Saws-all though.... better ask first. They seem to not let any power-type tools in, or people just don't seem to try... Iwould liek to bring in a CO2 tank and an impact next time I try to pull and axle... or springs. But will ask permission first.

All of mine wont let me near the place with any air tools.

I tried to convince them to let me in there with my co2 tank in a large back pack. And some impact stuff, air grinder, cuttoff, ect.

They didnt cite a real saftey reason against the co2, even said that was pretty creative, but at the same time they dont want every one to be running around out there with an arsenall of air tools.

I did look pretty cool though.. with the air hose and my grinder I looked like some sort of crazy ghost buster. :flipoff2:
