86 is the old body style, the new style started in 94. I have 2 86's and have had no problems with them.

It will more likely have a 30 spline 60 rear. If it is in good shape, runs well, and such, get it. I bought a 96, and have been having nothing but problems. My old 77 was SOO much better.. I want to pull it out of the bushes and bring it back to life. Show some pics...
All the one ton dodges I've ever seen have had 70 or 80 rears, even the non dually ones.

not the old ones.. that I have seen. actually, I have yet to see a pre-93 gas 1 ton with anything but a 30 spline 60. I was looking at an 84 when I bought my 96, and it had a 30 spline 60 rear, and a 35 spline front. I dunno, just what I have seen.

alan
for 1500 bucks and only 76,000 it sopunds like i cant pass it up ..
That sounds like a deal, if you don't take it I'd be interested. It'll be a 727, should be married 205 transfer case, you got above a certain gvw (somewhere around 8500# ) that's the tc they were supposed to get, elsewize it's a 208. I'm not sure if the 727 was available with the 205, I know the np 435 one tons got the 205.

Dodge used d60's rear thru the 80's and early 90's.
Now they use d70 in most 2500's, a d70-80 hybrid in some manual tranny HD 2500's, and d80 in 3500's
Bullshit, hayraker, I have 2 dodge one tons, 1978 dually and 84 single wheel. Both are dana 70s, I also have a dual wheel 70 out of a middle 60s dodge with 6 lug wheels. In the sixties you could even get d70 fronts in the w dodges.

I didn't say anything about the 60's or 70's, I said thru the 80's and early 90's.
And I did not say that they used d60's exclusively, just said that they used them(because you questioned that fact in an earlier post)
So if you want to call Bullshit fine, but call it on what I said.

I know the 83 W350 crew cab short bed I changed gears in and put Powerlocks in ft. & rr. had 60s both ends.
