Putting the finishing (yeah right...what is this "finished" thing U speak of kimosabi?) touches on the trail rig (74 cj5). Don't really want to run the soft top if I don't have to. Have an old bikini top from my 7 but of cpourse it's made for the post 76 windshield retainer. Haven't found a place that makes bikinis for pre 76. Has anybody run post 76 stuff on the older windshield by just slipping the edge of the top into what's there (u channel on leading edge) or will it not hold it tight enough? Do I need to track down a new retainer for the top edge of the windshield.

Sorry bout the lame a$$ kestion but a) it's a tough topic to search and b) would rather not have the bikini go flapping off into the ditch down the road.

yes it will work, I put a early model windshield frame on my jeep last fall so I could run the factory steel hardtop. In a rush this spring we put my old half top on to keep the rain out.

Super Thanks much. It looked like it would be ok once I tensioned the bikini down, but with all the extra play in that channel I wasn't sure about highway speeds. About 2 days work from trail ready so should be able to finish it in about a month :0/

Oh well, not having to buy a new channel leaves a few extra bucks to help fund spare axles etc to go with the new 44's

Thanks agin
