I have looked online and I think my new nv is the 6.34 first gear. It has a build date of 4 22 1994 And says nv4500-k

or is it the 5.61?? Ive read that all 93-94 gm nv4500 are 6.34

I have been searching and its about a 50 50 on the 6.34 or the 5.61

They say that all 1993 were 6.34 and most 1994 until the later 1994 and this one was built 4-22 -1994 so its a toss up

In your other thread you said you found this at a junk yard, and it was behind a 4.3L. So its sitting on your floor some where right? Put the fucker in 1st gear, spin the input 6 and 1/2 turns and see if the output shaft spins 1 revolution.

Thats weird that the big bad 5 speed we all want was behind a v6 in a 1/2 ton.

Your telling me, i asked them for a manual 5 speed 4x4 and they said they had one, so i crawled under there and there she was. I think its cause it was Work truck so they beefed it up? it was in a cash for clunkers truck

Im gonna go check now

Well it was hard to see it was freezing out and dark but it seemed closer to 6.3 than 5.6

If it came behind a 4.3 you didn't get a nv 4500, but a 3500.:D

Ya its a NV4500 i took the ID tag off the PTO cover and cleaned it up and its a N4500-k

You gonna really want to tell me to go F my self when i tell you what i paid for it, The Junk yard did not even know what kinda tranny it was, They just thought it was a 5speed 1/2 ton tranny.

Well im an idoit to be honest, im not sure which one im going to sell yet, i found this SM465 and went to go get it, and while driving i was calling around junk yards for nv4500's and i called this one and asked if they had any manual chevy 4x4 tranys and he said yes but in a 1/2 ton, so i figured it was a POS tranny.

And i looked on google when i was buying the SM465 on my phone and saw that some 1/2 trucks had the 4500, so i stopped by on the way home and it was a 4500 with a 4.3 v6 in front of it, so i had to buy it since there so hard to find.

I was literally shocked when i saw the big ass cast iron tranny in it, i just started laughing laying under the truck

So now i have to figure out what im going to keep, i will see what gets the most attention for sale and then figure out what to keep, Either SM or NV are good for what i want to do

I am sorry but you are 100 percent WRONG, Gm put a few nv4500 in 1/2 tons, i learned this today, even in the v6.

It seems the 1994's are very very hard to find? with the 6.34 gears.

They did put nv4500's in 1/2 tons but they were also swapped in more often than not. I would bet that the v6's were swapped in. But ??? And they are not that hard to find I've sold 3 in the last year 1 from a truck I bought, 1 was my spare , 1 was behind the old 6.5 I just parted due to cancer. all 94 vintage just have to look in the right place for them. I now want a 95 or newer maybe if I find one cheap enough.

What are you paying for them these days, around here in the NW people have a hard time finding them
