A while back I remebr someone looking for the part number for the NAPA "ball joint adjuster socket", the 4-prong socket used to pre-tention the screw-in sleave on the upper D44 ball joint.
Well I was lazy and never got round to posting it, but was digging around for something else and saw it in my tool box, so I grabed it.
Napa part, don't have the box so I can't get the "napa number" off it, but:
INGALLS 2979 is the number/name staped on it. Aperently Napa has two of these avaliable, a "good" one and a "not so good" one. Supposedly I got the good one. Hooper got one before me that I used before I got mine, the progs on his were all galled and rounded over after his one axle, making it kind a PITA to use.
Mine that bought later is still nice and solid after I did my most recent axle. No sign of galling or round over...
So beware. IIRC, his was like $10, and I paid $20 or $30 for mine... I'll have to see if I can find the recept and/or the box for it...
hope this helps anyone who need one....
